Chapter 175

The next morning, Sidney and Karen headed out for their day trip. They didn't really need to rush to get there as it was only a half hour away. They stopped at his parent's house first to kill a little bit of time and for Sidney to tell his dad they wouldn't be back until sometime Friday. They were about to head out when Trina handed them a picnic basket with a couple of sandwiches and other goodies. Since they were eating dinner at the restaurant, Sidney figured they could stop and eat the lunch before getting to the lighthouse.

The drive was quiet but relaxing as Sidney never let go of Karen's hand in the car. It was almost becoming a ritual for them everytime they got into the car. As they started to see signs directing them to the lighthouse, Sidney saw a turn off for a rest area and pulled in. Karen walked over to the building to go to the bathroom as Sidney grabbed the picnic basket and got it set up. When she came back over, Karen smiled seeing a blanket down by a tree and Sidney sitting there waiting for her.

"Hey stud, waiting for someone?"

"Actually I am."

"Who is she? Could I maybe get you to let me join you instead?"

"Sorry but my wife is so beautifully vibrant I wouldn't want to share this with anyone but her."

"I hope she realizes how lucky she is."

"I just hope she realizes how in love with her I am" he said sticking out his hand for Karen to take so he could help her sit down beside him.

Karen leaned in and was mere inches from Sidney's lips "I've always realized it stud" she said kissing him with a soft, passionate kiss.

"Keep doing that and we may never reach our destination baby."

"Fine, I'll curb all feelings until we get home tonight." Sidney just smiled at her and they got out the food, eating their lunch and enjoying a beautiful scenery as well.

After an hour, they stopped at the bathroom once more before finishing their 10 minute drive to the lighthouse. When Sidney parked the car, Karen got out and took in a deep breath at how beautiful the view was.

"See, there is the restaurant right over there" Sidney said pointing to it "maybe we can get a seat by the window so we can look out at the water while we eat."

"Let's hope so." They walked hand in hand to the lighthouse and went inside. They were able to go up to the top and it was amazingly breathtaking. Sidney just stood behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist as they looked out of the window. "How did you know I would love coming here?"

"I know you baby. If you had a chance, you would stay outside all day just looking at scenery like this."

"Of course I would want a sexy man with me to make it a little romantic."

"I am always here to make that happen for you." After standing there for a little bit longer, Sidney asked if she wanted to take a walk around until they got hungry for dinner. Karen just nodded her head and they headed down the stairs and out of the lighthouse. They left the car and just started walking away from the lighthouse and down towards the water. Sidney helped her up onto a big rock and turned her to him, holding her.

"Thank you for thinking of this Sid."

"Your welcome baby. As I looked through the website for this place, I knew you would love it."

"I love being anywhere as long as we're together."

"I don't know what I'd do if I ever lost you."

"Well I don't plan on going anywhere until I breathe my last dying breath. Even until then, we'll be together."

"Maybe we'll even die on the same day."

"Sid, you're 17 years younger than me, do you plan on taking poison for that to happen?"

"Nope, it'll be from a broken heart of losing you" he said before kissing her. The kiss turned heated and Karen could feel her body tingle.

"Maybe we should slow down" she said putting her forehead to his.

"Maybe you're right or I won't be able to walk for awhile." They managed to sit down on the rock with Karen sitting inbetween Sidney's legs and her back upagainst his chest.

"So, have you always been this sentimental or is this something new?"

"I've always been emotional but I guess after finding you and finally falling in love, it's just coming out naturally."

"Ok, stop getting all sappy on me. Where did my hockey stud go?"

"He's still here baby, he's just taking a short break to woo his wife."

"As long as he comes back full force next week I'll be happy."

"So to change the subject, what all still needs bought for the new house?"

"Not too much. I got all the living room taking care of and found a nice smaller bedroom suit for one of the guest rooms. I had a thought to maybe get futons with the good innerspring mattress for the other guest rooms instead of having all of them with actual bedroom furnishings."

"That might be a good idea. The main guest room would be for my parents and your friends can fight over it when they stay after some home games. The others can be like additional sitting rooms and if we need to pull out the beds for company, they will have an actual mattress to sleep on."

"Of course we need one room to be the shrine to the almighty Sidney Crosby, hockey God to Pittsburgh."

"You say that like its a bad thing" he said to get Karen to laugh "we also need a game room."

"Why on earth would we need a game room? You guys spend enough time together at the arena, I am not housing all the Penguins when the Xbox, Wii, or Playstation can't get turned off until someone scores or evens the best-out-of-seven series."

"I'll make a deal with you..."

"I'm listening."

"You let me have a game room, and when you say it's time to stop and send everyone home I will abide by your decision and kick everyone out."

"I think I can make that compromise. But that means, the basement will be everything...game room, hockey practice rink but it will NOT house the washer and dryer" she said getting a laugh out of him.

"I promise, the washer and dryer will be upstairs off the kitchen."

"Then you have a deal stud." Sidney smiled and kissed her head knowing he'd get what he wanted. They stayed on the rock for a long while until they both said they were getting hungry. Sidney helped her off the rock and they made their way to the restaurant. The hostess recognized Sidney and was more than accommodating in giving them a seat by the window.

"I think you have a jealous fan" Karen said as she looked over her menu.

"Baby, don't start."

"I'm not starting anything, but the way she seated you and the way she seated me...there was a distinct difference stud."

"What do you want to do, get on top of the table and start having sex to show her we're a couple?"

"Ok" Karen said and started to get up.

"I was kidding baby."

"You really need to remember who you're dealing with when you make statements like that." Karen just winked at him and finished looking over her menu. The waitress came and took their drink orders, giving them time to figure out what they wanted. When she came back, Sidney ordered for the both of them and Karen just looked at him.

"What?"

"I just love it when you do that."

"What?"

"Get all gentlemanly on me."

"I don't think that's a word baby" he said as the waitress brought their salads.

"Haven't you realized by now I like to make up my own words?"

"Yes and I am waiting for one that actually makes sense." Karen just smirked at him before diving into her salad.

After their food came about twenty minutes later, they ate in mostly silence, not because they ran out of things to say but because the food was that good. When they were done, Sidney ordered a dessert for them to share and Karen just smiled shaking her head at him and wondered if all hockey players had a romantic side like this. She made a mental note to ask a few wives/girlfriends before the season started. When the very decedent chocolate cake came, Sidney couldn't resist feeding Karen the first bite.

"I don't think this is healthy for you to eat before a training camp."

"Not like you won't help me work if off tonight anyway."

"We might have to go all night to make that happen."

"Hmm, you say that like its difficult for us to achieve."

"Not like we've accomplish it yet stud."

"Maybe tonight could be the night then, you never know." They just gave each other a knowing look and finished their cake. The waitress brought the check a few minutes later and Sidney paid it. As they were leaving, there was a gift shop attached to the restaurant and Karen took a few minutes to look around. Sidney saw her face light up when she picked up a figurine of the lighthouse. She put it down and told him she was going to the bathroom before they headed back home. After Karen disappeared around the corner, Sidney grabbed the figurine and went to purchase it before she came back.

As they headed out, Sidney drove the short distance to The Whale's Back Country Suites. When Sidney called, they had the one bedroom suite available since there was a cancellation. There are only two suites in the renovated house and they lucked out getting one of the rooms. Karen was a little confused when he pulled up and stopped the car.

"What are we doing here? I thought we were going back home."

"My surprise to you, we're staying the night."

Karen saw him grab a bag from the back "just one little detail you forgot to reveal."

"Would I really make this day memorible and not plan an overnight stay?"

"And you keep saying how I amaze you."

"Come on, let's go in." Sidney took her hand and they walked inside being met by a gracious woman who rcognized Sidney right off.

"Mr. Crosby" she said shaking his hand "it's a pleasure to meet you and have you stay here tonight."

"Thanks for having a room open and it's Sidney" he said smiling "this is my wife Karen."

"It's nice to meet you" Karen said.

"Well it's nice to meet you too dear. When did you two get married?"

They looked at each other and smiled "about six days ago" Sidney said.

"Then this would be a honeymoon?"

"A special night out honeymoon actually" he said.

"Well then let me wish you both congratulations and show you to your room." She took them upstairs and Karen was in awe with how simple and beautiful the room was. Sidney saw her smile and realized he made the right choice. After they were shown the rooma nd where everything was, Sidney walked her to the door. Karen heard whispering but didn't think anything of it until Sidney came back and wrapped his arms around her body.

"What was that about?"

"I asked if there was any hurry to leave in the morning and she said we could stay as long as we needed to. No one else had the room booked until Saturday."

"So we can try and stay up all night then?" she said turning around in his arms.

"Not try baby, we will most definitely stay up all night" he said kissing her "we are on our honeymoon after all." Karen just smiled and let their lips connect for another passionate kiss to start it all off.
