"...doing here?" Sidney said finishing her sentence.
"Um, yeah" Karen pulled back to look at Sidney. She saw the uncertainty in his eyes and put her hand on his cheek "what's going on baby?"
"I just needed to get away from the arena, my dad, to just step away and regroup for a minute at least."
"So you decided to break our pact and come see me?" Karen said with a smile.
"Are you going to kick me out?" Sidney said smiling back at her.
"I should"
"But....." He said with hopefulness.
"But I can't."
Sidney leans down and kisses her before taking her hand and walking over to the couch. He sits down and pulls Karen on his lap.
"What's really going on Sid? I can see if your dad is getting on you to need space from him, but you've never needed space away from the ice. Something else is going on."
"Are we being a therapist now?"
"If it's going to get you to open up and get your head clear, then yeah...the doctor is in."
"What's your rate doc?" Sidney ask with a smirk. Karen brought her lips to his and kissed him with a very slow and passionate kiss. She felt his grip on her waist get tighter as the kiss deepened. "Hmm, I might be able to afford that" Sidney went for his spot on her neck "do you have a payment plan?"
Karen pushed him away from her "come on, talk to me."
"I don't know, maybe it's not our time or at least mine to win it this yet?"
Karen didn't know how to respond to that "how do you know this isn't your time yet? It's not that impossible to be down two games and come back to win it. Teams have done it."
"I know it's not impossible but nothing is happening. We are getting chances, it's not that we aren't just nothing is going in." Karen just sat and watch his face and expressions, mainly his eyes. She could tell he was effective by the losses but there was nothing she could do and didn't want to say the wrong things. "I just don't know what I'm going to do."
"Baby? You are not going to be able to win this on your own. You put every game on your shoulders when the team loses. If your not scoring, you're not the only one on the team that isn't scoring. If you give up the puck, there are other guys doing the same thing."
"I know, but I am the Captain of this team. I need to lead by examples and get the guys going in the right direction. How can I do that if I'm not going in the right direction?"
Karen brought her hand up and raised his chin to look at her "yes, you are the Captain. But you can not carry this team all by yourself. If you or Geno or even Jordan isn't scoring, then the goals are going to come from someone else. I'm not saying this to hurt you more, but Sid, you need to learn to look at all the angles why the team isn't performing, not just you. If it was easy to score a goal on every shift in every period in every game, the game totals would be in the triple digits. I know the frustration is setting in, but tomorrow night you guys are playing in front of 17,000+ fans that are standing behind this team no matter what."
"And where will you be?" Sidney choked out after her speech. "Where will you be if we lose these next two at home? Where will you be if the fans boo us out of our own building?"
"I will be where I have been since we started dating...standing and cheering for you. I have been in those seats for more than a decade and I have seen it all. Whatever happens, yes the fans will be disappointed and every media person is going to ask 'how did this happen'. But we will get over it and concentrate on next year just like you guys. If this isn't your year, so what. Baby, you're 20 years old. You have already accomplished more in your life that most hockey greats had to wait until they got to the NHL to do."
"True, but..."
"No more buts. Did Mario win a cup in any of his first three seasons? What about Gretzky? Or even Yzerman? No, they didn't. I'm sorry but nobody is that good. I love you and I am telling you this because I love you. Look deep inside Sid, your intensity for the rest of the playoffs is in there and it is waiting for you to let it out."
Sidney sat there and just looked at Karen. She tried to read his eyes to see if he was upset at her for saying all this to him or something else.
"I don't think anyone else would put it that way, so straight forward." Sidney looked at her and smiled "thank you baby. That is exactly what I needed to hear." He leaned in and kissed her "so what do I owe you?"
"We'll talk about that later."
"Later as in after we go to your room and you really make me feel better or..."
"Later as in after this series is over. You broke the pact and came to see me but I am invoking the no sex clause of the pact."
"You never said there was a no sex clause."
"Um, if we made a pact to not see each other until after this round, a no sex clause is pretty much understood."
"I think we need to change the pact. I mean I already broke it coming here, why can't we break another part of it?"
"Oh baby" Karen laughed before kissing him.
"Is that a yes?"
She stopped laughing and got real serious "no. I'm sorry Sid, as much as I would love to drag you to my room and have you make me scream like a cat in heat I am not giving in to you."
"As much as I hate that you won't give in, I love you for sticking to this. I better go though."
"Wow, you've been here for 2 hours." They got up and headed to the door "feel any better?"
Sidney held her tightly in his arms "so much better that you have no idea. Thank you for being straight with me, I do appreciate it. My dad, my agent, even Mario would have just sugar coated it but you don't hold back do you."
"Why should I? You deserve to hear the truth Sid, always. If I jeopardize what we have because I'm being honest, I'll live with the consequences. But I think you'd rather have the truth more than anything."
"I know I keep telling you this, but you are amazing and smart and beautiful and...and..."
"Need a thesaurus?"
"No, I think those three suit you well. I love you baby." Sidney kissed her not wanting to let her go.
"I love you too Sid. You better go. I'll see you tomorrow night at the arena."
"You better be there. I need my personal cheerleader there."
"I have nowhere else I need to be."
They kissed each other one more time before Sidney finally let go of Karen and walked out to his car. Karen stood in the doorway and watched as he drove away.
"He makes you scream like a cat in heat?" Maggie said startling her as she came out of the kitchen.
Karen leaned up against the closed door "most definitely. You want to go get an early dinner?"
"Kind of broke right now, maybe next week."
"Come on, my treat. I just feel like going out."
"Alright, let me go change."
Maggie went to her room to change and Karen went and sat down on the couch to wait for her. She hoped that what she told Sidney got his head right for the game tomorrow night. Soon Maggie came back out and they headed off to dinner.

Chapter 38
The alarm rang at 2:30a and Karen moved to shut it off before it woke Sidney up. Karen got out of bed and went into the bathroom. She came out a few minutes later and saw that Sidney had changed positions and was sleeping peacefully. Karen walked out of the room quietly and went to the kitchen to make some coffee. Maggie was already in there which surprised her.
"Morning Mags."
"Morning, coffee will be ready in a minute or so. See you had a little sleepover last night."
"Yeah, he'll be heading to Detroit today so I won't see him until the finals are over. He decided to stay with me last night. Mind that he'll be here alone and leave about 8a?"
"No."
"I'll leave him a note so he locks the door and everything but he'll probably get up and just get dress to leave."
"That's fine. You're going to miss being with him huh?"
"Yeah but he needs to focus on this round more than the past ones. It's what I needed to do."
"I'm sure he loves you for it. We better get dressed ourselves."
They each grab a cup of coffee and went to get ready. When Karen got back to the room, she reset the alarm for 7:30a for Sidney to get up with then went into the bathroom to get dressed. She came out 15 minutes later and was completely ready. She went to the kitchen and wrote Sidney a short note, taking it back to the bedroom and putting it under the alarm clock making sure it stuck out for Sidney to see. She leaned down and kissed his cheek lightly and whispered 'I love you'. Karen and Maggie left soon after and went to work.
At 7:30a Sidney woke up to the alarm going off. He found the off button and laid there until he really woke up. When he looked back at the clock, he saw the piece of paper under it. He pulled it out from under there and turned on the bedside lamp, focusing his eyes to read it.
Hey baby,
I would have loved nothing more then to be there when you woke up, but alas today is a work day. I did enjoy waking up in your arms though and can't wait until I get more than one day to do it too. Anyway, I just wanted to say that I love you and I will be counting the days until game 3 when I can see you play again. Good luck baby and remember...this is what you want and have wanted since the day you started playing. Go for your dream baby, it's waiting for you.

Sidney laid there smiling at her words. He got up and went to the bathroom before coming back out to get dressed. He stopped in the kitchen and got a drink of juice, rinsing the glass and putting it in the dishwasher. He headed to the door and laughed when he saw a 'lock the door behind you' sign. After he locked the door and shut it, Sidney got in his car and headed back to Mario's.
As Sidney was driving up the interstate, he saw the sign for Cabela's and decided to get off the exit and head to the store. He knew the store wouldn't be opened yet so he parked the car and sent Karen a message hoping she had her phone on her.
Are you ready for a break? I am outside waiting.
Karen felt her phone vibrate in her pocket. She kept her phone with her incase Sidney called or texted on his way home. She flipped it open and saw his message. Karen smiled and replied back.
Haven't taken one yet. Be out there in a minute.
Karen shut her laptop and headed to the employee door. She walked outside and saw Sidney parked by the sidewalk, going over to him. He shut off the car and got out so he could hug her.
"I didn't think you'd stop on your way up."
"I had to see you one more time" Sidney said before he leaned in and kissed her.
"You are making it impossible for me to want you to leave."
"Maybe that's my plan. Get you to ditch work and come with me."
"Ok, why not. It's just my job and possibly my career but they'll understand when I tell them who I'm dating."
"Why do you ruin the fantasy? You could have just stopped at 'Ok'."
"Because it wouldn't be any fun to just play along."
"I'm going to miss this."
"Me too." Karen looked at her watch "my 15 minutes are about up."
"I know."
Sidney leaned down to kiss her again. When they pulled apart, he put his forehead to hers and they stayed there for a few minutes without speaking. Karen had to let go of Sidney first because if she didn't they would have been there all day.
"You better go" she whispered.
"Yeah" Sidney finally let go of Karen and got in his car. "If we can't see each other, can we still call or text?"
"I think that would be alright. But only if it is after practice or a game, ok?"
"You drive a very hard bargain, but it'll work."
Karen leaned her head in the window and kissed him one last time "I love you."
"I love you too. Oh and tell Maggie that I locked the door."
"I will."
Karen walked over to the sidewalk and watched Sidney pull away. She waved at him and watched him drive off. Karen took a deep breath and went back inside to try and concentrate on her work for the rest of the day.
Saturday night finally came and Karen was over at Sheril's house to watch the game with her, Natalie and Diane. The game started out good as they came out flying in the first period but seemed to get worse for the Pens as they lost 4-0. Karen sat there and everytime they showed Sidney her heart broke knowing he didn't want the first game to be like this.
"Look at it like this, it is only game 1" Natalie said with a glimmer of hope.
Karen was about to respond when her phone rang. She looked at the caller ID and saw it was Sidney. Karen smiled and answered it.
"Hello."
"Hey baby."
"Hey" Karen could her the dejectedness in his voice.
"HI SID!" Sheril, Natalie and Diane all screamed into the phone. Karen just laughed and got up, walking outside.
"At a party?" Sidney said laughing.
"No, it's just the girls. We came here to Sheril's to watch the game."
"Oh god, you guys saw that?"
"Yeah. You ok?"
"Yeah, I will be once I forget about this game and move on to game 2."
"Well since you want to forget about this game, I won't ask you what happened then" Karen smiled when she heard Sidney laugh.
"Thank you baby, I needed that."
"That's why I'm here."
"That's not the only reason your here."
"Aww" Karen said and made a few fake sniffs.
"What's the matter baby?"
"My boyfriend loves me" she said as she sniffed some more.
"Yes I do. I didn't think I could've gotten in a better mood this soon but you made it possible baby. I love you."
"I love you too stud."
"Good. I hate to do this but I need to get my shower and meet the bus. I'll call you tomorrow?"
"I will be waiting by the phone."
"Bye baby."
"Bye."
They hung up and Karen leaned up against the house "please let this turn out how Sid wants it." She straightened up and walked back inside.
All day at work on Monday Karen kept thinking about game 2 and wondering how it was going to go. Karen and Sidney had talked for an hour on Sunday mostly to keep his spirits up for tonight's game. She just hoped it was enough.
When it was time for the game, the girls met up at a local sports bar to watch the game. A few people from work was getting a group together and they decided to join them. As the game went on, the group watched as Detroit took a 2-0 lead in the series with the Pens losing 3-0. Karen didn't feel like staying around and went back to Maggie's house to try and get some sleep for work the next day. After she got to the house and got ready for bed, she grabbed her phone and texted Sidney. She knew he probably wouldn't get back to her but she just felt she needed to remind him she was still here for him not matter what. She told him the one thing that really only mattered to them. She put her phone on the bedside stand and turned off the light.
Sidney had finished with the media after the game and was sitting in his stall. He was about to go get his shower when he heard his phone go off. Since he didn't feel like talking to anyone, he was relieved when it was a text. Sidney saw it was from Karen and he opened it.

The days had gone by fast like Karen had said and it was Thursday. They had talked on Wednesday making plans to spend the day together. Karen did switch her days around and got done at 10a on Thursday. She left work and went straight to the her house in Pittsburgh. Karen knew Sidney would have practice and things to do at the arena before seeing her but she wanted to be home when he got done. After Karen got home and settled, she grabbed her phone and texted Sidney.
Incase you have nothing to do later, I'm home if you want someone to spend time with.
Karen smiled and put her phone aside, turning on the tv and flipping through the channels for something to watch until she heard back from Sidney. A few minutes later her phone buzzed and she looked at it seeing a message from him.
Well I had plans to meet up with this beautiful woman but I could be persuaded to stop by there instead.
I wouldn't want you to be disappointed giving up that beautiful woman for me.
Who said I would be disappointed? I'm giving up a beautiful woman for one that is breathtakingly gorgeous.

Karen laughed and put her phone down. She loved how they could be like that and not get mad at each other's comments. Karen went to the kitchen to see what she had to make for lunch when he got here but before she left the living room her phone went off again.
Don't make anything for lunch. I'll bring something with me.
"Well that was an easy choice" She said to herself and went back to watching tv.
Two hours later, Karen heard a car pull into her driveway. She smiled getting up and meeting Sidney on the porch.
"See, this is how it should always be."
"What? Me waiting for you."
Sidney got up on the porch and wrapped his one free arm around her "yes." He brought his lips down to meet her in a soft kiss "you have no idea how much I missed you."
"I think it might be debatable. Maybe we should save that for after lunch."
"I don't know, I have something planned for after lunch and it doesn't involve a lot of talking."
"You sure we can't do that first and eat after?"
"Well lunch will keep so I don't see why we couldn't. But I think I am going to make you wait seeing you deserted me Sunday night after we won." Sidney dropped a kiss to her head and walked inside.
"You're not right Crosby" she said following him inside.
Karen walked in and saw Sidney setting the food out in the living room. It was a simple lunch of deli sandwiches. She smiled knowing he didn't have to impress her with fancy restaurants. Karen went to the kitchen to get something to drink for them then came back and sat down on the floor beside Sidney.
"How was practice?"
"It was good. We had fun to ease whatever tension may arise. Worked a lot of drills though."
"Detroit's been tough this year. They're going to test you guys."
"I know. I just want it to be close, not a blow out."
"Well you guys are just going to have to go in there and give them all you got."
"Any predictions my dear?"
"Nope. I am not going to jinx anything by prediciting who wins in how many games."
Sidney kissed her temple "good girl."
They both laughed and finished their lunch. When they were done, Karen cleaned up and Sidney sat up on the couch. Karen came back and cuddled up to him.
"So, what did you have planned for after lunch and do we at least let our food digest first?"
"Well the one thing I know we will definitely be doing, we need to let our food digest. But I was thinking that we take a little walk."
"Where?"
"Just around the neighborhood. Its a beautiful day out there today."
"I love that idea. Let me go to the bathroom real quick and i'll be ready to go."
Karen got up and went upstairs to the bathroom. She came back down a couple minutes later and Sidney met her at the door. He took her hand in his and they laced their fingers together as they walked off the porch and headed down the street.
"What are you think about?"
"How I could blog all this about you on the internet and tell all the girls out there what you're really like."
"Then I would have to tell the world what my incredible girlfriend said was true and in return give them all the details about you."
"That might actually be fun though. May have to put a few of the videos up on YouTube to show I'm not lying about being with you."
Sidney stopped "You have videos?"
"Only from the first couple times we were together." Karen saw the look on his face and his eyes got wider as he thought back to those times. She started laughing which only got a confused look from Sidney.
"Fine, you got me. You don't have videos of us."
"Oh come on, you so walked into that. Besides if I did have videos of us, which I don't, I wouldn't share them with anyone. You really think I'm going to let the world see what I get the priviledge of seeing on any given night."
"I'd hope not."
Karen brought her hand up to Sidney's face to make him look at her "I love you to much to jeopardize what we have."
"Maybe you could give me the tape and when I go home in a few weeks, it'll give me something to remember you by."
"Remember me by? Do you plan on not ever seeing me again?"
"Well it will be a whole two months before you come to visit me. I just don't want to forget anything about you."
"I don't think that's possible but if you want a tape of us, then we need to make one before you leave."
"Now that is possible."
Karen just shook her head laughing and they started walking again. They got to the end of the street and turned around to head back. About halfway back, Karen let go of Sidney's hand and got behind him, jumping on his back for a piggy back ride the rest of the way. When they got back to Karen's house, she jumped off his back and went to unlock the door so they could head in. Karen walked into the kitchen for a drink of water and Sidney was right behind her. As she put her glass in the sink, Karen felt Sidney press up against her.
"Is this what you had planned?"

"Hi Sid. Bye Sid" the three of them said in unison as he ran past. They all laughed and went inside. They made themselves at home and Sheril looked down to see a pile of clothes. She got the attention of the other two and all three of them smiled. A few minutes later, Karen came down dressed for the game and saw them in the living room.

"I just left clothes down here, no big deal."
"Really? So when did you start wearing boxers?" Natalie asked while holding up a pair of boxers that obviously Sidney forgot to put on or grab.

She took the boxers from Natalie and put them with her clothes, taking them to the bathroom and placing them in the hamper. When she came back in the living room, all six eyes were staring at her. Karen told them to go without her since she wanted to wait for Sidney. Sheril had driven to the game so Karen could get a ride with him. She knew she had work on Monday and she would get to Wheeling late, but she felt like celebrating with him and the guys for a little bit. The girls understood and they said goodbye. Karen waited around until the arena cleared before heading downstairs. She flashed her pass and got through. She found Abby Malone, who was more than excited to see Karen.
"Can you believe they're going to the Stanley Cup Finals?" she said hugging Karen.
"Actually I can. They worked for this, it's their time to shine."
"I know. They are so happy right now. We were trying to think of some place to go and celebrate. You coming with Sid?"
"For a little while. I'll have to get home so I can get to work by 4a."
"That's what time you go to work? Why don't you just call in?"
"It'll be ok. I work until 1p so the day usually goes pretty fast."
They continued to talk until all the media left. They knew the guys would celebrate around for a little bit then get their showers. Karen and Abby stayed in the lounge area until Ryan and Sidney came out. Vero came out and said that everyone was going to her and Marc-Andre's house to finish the celebration. Ryan had come out a few minutes later and told Karen Sidney was about 10 minutes behind him. She thanked him and continued to wait. Karen got up and walked around the lounge area just looking around. She felt a pair of arms wrap around her waist and she turned around in them, giving him a very passionate kiss.
"Hey baby. Congratulations."
"Thanks. You ready to go over to Marc's?"
"Yeah, let's go."
When they left the arena, Sidney was holding Karen's hand as they went to his car. Karen saw a few people still waiting around for what players were left and they knew Sidney was one of them.
"Did you want to go sign a few things?"
"Do you mind? I mean it could be a little bit."
"I don't mind waiting, but it's up to you if you want to go over there."
Sidney kissed her cheek and started to walk over there to the delight of the small crowd "5 minutes I promise."
Karen looked at her watch "so 5 minutes in Sidney time is what 20 minutes, half hour?"
Sidney just looked back and laughed. He started signing and talking with the crowd. Karen kind of heard some of their questions and one sounded like someone asked if Karen was his girlfriend. She didn't hear his response but watched him as he continued to sign. Twenty minutes later, Sidney was walking back over to his car and to the huge smile on Karen's face.
"Don't say it baby."
Karen laughed as she got in the car then they headed out of the parking lot and on their way to Marc-Andre's house. They were pretty much the last ones to arrive which everyone knew. They made their way around the house greeting people before getting a drink and settling down on the couch. The guys spent about an hour talking about the game before going on to other things. Karen loved watching them all act normal, especially Sidney. She got up to get another drink and felt a hand on her ass. She turned around thinking it was Sidney but it turned out to be another.
"Um, can I help you there Geno?"
"If that's an offer, then yes."
"It wasn't an offer but if you would kindly remove your hand from my ass I won't have to hurt you."
He pressed his body into hers and Karen was up against the sink with nowhere to go "you might actually enjoy it."

Geno left Karen and all she could do was shake her head at what just happened. She didn't feel unsafe with him or anything like that, its just his advances seemed to get stronger when alcohol is involved. "He really needs a girlfriend" she said to herself.
"He does have one but she still lives in Russia."
"Hey Max. Why doesn't he bring her over here to be with him?"
"Don't know, maybe he likes to play around and doesn't want her here to spoil that."
"Gotcha. So what's going on Max?"
"Nothing, just watching that little display there and was ready to jump in if needed."
"Well thank you. I guess it was either have someone come to save me or try and yell for Sidney over all the noise."

"This is his first time playing for the Cup, if we lose he'll definitely need you. I mean, he's strong but it'll probably break him."

"I think he caught mine first. After I met him I really didn't think I would be where I am now."

"I figured we would see each other whenever we could and I guess I thought I would be hidden away from everyone to keep this part of his life private."

"That you do my dear" Max said hugging her. He pulled away and looked out the back door "I think you may want to go see what's outside."
Karen looked out the door and saw Sidney leaning up against the railing on the porch. She smiled at Max then headed out. "What are you doing out here all by yourself?"
"Well I'm not by myself anymore" he said holding her. "Where've you been?"
"Getting another drink in the kitchen. What's on your mind baby?"
"Nothing really. I'm just glad you're here."
"At least for another hour or so."
"Why can't you call in for tomorrow? Coach gave us tomorrow off and we could really sleep in."
"Sid, I have taken so many days off as it is. I thought you understood that after some home games I would have to not see you because of work the next day."
"I do understand and I'm sorry but since we aren't going to see each other at all during the next round, I just want as much time as possible with you."
"I know you do. Seeing you on weekends have been the highlight to my work week. But you know I'm right about this. Listen, I will trade my early day on Friday to Thursday and then we can be together all day and night Thursday until you guys leave Friday for Detroit."
"How are you so sure we're going to Detroit?"
"I am just going with all the predictions and if the league wants the finals to be over by the 9th of June, you'll have to start by Saturday night."
"I thought I was the one with all the hockey knowledge."
"You have the knowledge for all things on the ice baby."
"But Thursday is four whole days away, I have to wait that long?" Sidney said in almost a whine.
Karen couldn't help but laugh "what are you 5 now? Four days is not that long Sid."
"It is when I have to wait to see you. But if I need to, I will wait until then."
"You are to cute" Karen said before kissing him. "Did one of the fans ask you if I was your girlfriend?"
"You heard that?"
"I thought it sounded like someone asked that but you just comfirmed it. What was your response to that?"
"I told them that you were a really good friend. Do you mind?"

"I did it because I don't want you to feel the backlash."

"Do you want to head back inside before you leave?"
"If you want to. I kind of like just being out here with you."
"Then we will stay here" Sidney said pulling her to him and letting her head rest on his shoulder.
An hour later, Karen told Sidney she had to leave. He took her inside to say goodbye to everyone and then drove her home. They went inside so Karen could get her bag and then he walked her to her car. Sidney leaned her against the car and kissed her.
"You going back to Marc's?"
"No, I think I am just going to head to Mario's and try to get some sleep."
"I wish I could call off work tomorrow but Thursday will be here before you know it."
"I will count down the days. Thanks for coming with me tonight."
"It was fun, I'm glad I went. You have some amazing friends."
"My girlfriend is more amazing." Sidney kissed her again but made it last a little longer before pulling away "I love you."
"I love you too. We'll talk Wednesday to make plans for Thursday ok?"
"Ok. Make sure you get some sleep after work."
"I will." Their foreheads met and they stayed still for a minute "I've got to go."
"I know, it's just my arms don't want to let you go."
Karen moves his arms from around her body and opened her door, getting in. She started the car and pulled out of the driveway waving to Sidney before taking off down the street. Sidney stood there until he couldn't see her lights and got into his car driving the short distance to Mario's house.
"What's so funny?"
"Nothing, just thinking about some things."

"Just random things."
"Was I one of the random things you thought about?"

"I'm kidding" Karen smiled at his pretend pouting. She looked over at the clock and saw it was getting late. "Are you staying here tonight or going home?"
"Why would you ask that knowing my answer?"
"Because the game tomorrow is an afternoon one. I don't want to offset the routine."
"Maybe for one night only, the routine could use a little shake up."
"Fine, but if you guys lose or YOU play bad, I am not being held responsible."

"Maybe we should go to bed so you can get some sleep."

"Well you need to get up because you still have to get your things from Mario's before going to the arena."

"Where are my clothes from last night?"
"Probably still down in the living room. We didn't bring them up with us."
"Ok, then I will get dressed downstairs." Karen sat up and he walked over to the bed and kissed her. "I will see you at the arena and after the game if we win."

Sidney left the room and went downstairs to get dressed. Karen got out of bed and hopped in the shower. After Sidney got dressed he noticed the time and ran out of the house. Just as he was, Sheril, Diane and Natalie were getting out of the car as Sidney ran past.
"Hi Sid. Bye Sid" the three of them said in unison as he ran past. They all laughed and went inside. They made themselves at home and Sheril looked down to see a pile of clothes. She got the attention of the other two and all three of them smiled. A few minutes later, Karen came down dressed for the game and saw them in the living room.
"Hey girls. What's going on?"
"Maybe we should be asking you that. Or better yet, what went on here last night." Diane said holding up Karen's clothes.
"I just left clothes down here, no big deal."
"Really? So when did you start wearing boxers?" Natalie asked while holding up a pair of boxers that obviously Sidney forgot to put on or grab.
Karen felt the heat rise in her cheeks and she knew she was blushing in front of her friends. She took the boxers from Natalie and put them with her clothes, taking them to the bathroom and placing them in the hamper. When she came back in the living room, all six eyes were staring at her. "Well what do ya'll expect? We do have sex you know?"
"So wait, when he ran past us a few minutes ago, he was commando under his shorts?" Diane pointed out.
"Wait, I need to get a mental picture of this" Sheril said "give me a description Karen so I can get a more vivid picture in my head."

Karen grabbed her jersey and purse then they all headed out. They got to the arena about 1p and chilled out with all the fans until the doors opened. Karen and Diane found a few others they knew from work and was talking to them. When the doors opened they walked in and got their beer, heading to their seats. Karen had a good feeling about today's game but wondered how Sidney was doing. She knew he wouldn't be nervous but she figured something was going through his head from his question last night. Karen got out her phone, going back inside the Igloo club and instead of texting, she called him hoping he would answer.

"Look, I don't want to keep you long, I just wanted to tell you that I love you and good luck today."

"You guys are ready, this is your game to win."

They brought out the trophy for winning the Eastern Conference and Sidney had his picture taken with it before the team skated off. Karen wanted to wait around but the girls needed to get back. She was about to have them drop her off at her house when her phone vibrated with a message.

Chapter 35
The next day, Karen and her friends drove back to Pittsburgh. Since it was Friday Karen would just stay at the house while the others headed down to Wheeling. They would all be back up Sunday morning for the game anyway. Karen was kind of relieved, she loved her friends dearly but she needed a break from them. Karen had sent a text to Sidney telling him she was home and got things done around the house until she heard back from him.
It was nearing 4p and Karen hadn't heard back from Sidney. She called him but it went to voicemail and she texted him again but never got an answer. She needed to run to the grocery store for a couple of things and would try to get him when she got back.
After Karen got home from the store, she pulled her key out and unlocked the door. Her hands were full with bags and she walked right past the living room to the kitchen. Karen thought she saw something in the living room, so she put the bags down and walked back to the doorway. Karen couldn't believe what she was seeing. There was a blanket on the floor with pillows and on the coffee table were candles and take out Chinese. She began to laugh when someone came up behind her.
"I don't think any of this is funny."
"I'm not laughing at the whole scenerio, it's the take out boxes that I find amusing." Karen turned around to see Sidney behind her "Everything else I find overwhelmingly breathtaking."
"Well when you texted me and said you were going to the store, I figured I had to surprise you somehow."
"Yeah considering I first texted you around 1p and five hours later I finally get to see you."
"I couldn't have pulled this off if I got back to you earlier now could I?"
"No I guess not. But thank you, it looks great in there. One thing though...why the fire?"
"I thought it set the mood, you know romantic, get the night going."
"I am all for the romantic mood but um, it's the middle of May and still 80-some degrees outside."
"Well I can always kick up the AC and then we will definitely need it. Ready to eat?"
"Yeah, but I need to put a couple of things away first that belong in the freezer."
"Well you go do that and I will get the food on the plates."
Sidney gave her a kiss and let her go. Karen got the few things put away in the fridge and freezer and headed back into the living room. Sidney made a space for her beside him to sit and eat.
"So none of the girls decided to stay the weekend?"
"No, they had to get back. Diane and Natalie had to work tomorrow but they will all be back up Sunday morning for the game."
"Do I detect some relief there baby?"
"You know me too well. Yes, I love my friends, but it's nice to have some alone time."
"Does that mean you're going to kick me out too?"
"No, at least not until I get what I want out of it first."
"Do I dare ask?"
"You already know what I want. I just want it after dinner."
"So that makes me dessert then?"
Karen leaned and whispered "always." She kissed him then they went back to eating.
When they were done, Karen took the plates and empty food containers to the kitchen. When she came back to the living room, Sidney was moving the couch to face the fireplace. Karen just laughed and went to join him when he had the couch set.
"I thought this would be better. Come here." Sidney held out his hand and when Karen grabbed it he pulled her to sit beside him. He put his arms around her and Karen leaned into him. They sat there for awhile with no words needed.
"What if the Flyers come back and win this round?"
"They're not going to. You guys are too strong right now. They had their one game to fight to try and come back but you guys will shut them down tomorrow."
"Can I have that in writing?"
Karen turned around and put Sidney's face in her hands, looking directly into his eyes "I will give you my 100% guarantee that there is no stopping you guys from making it to the final round. All the fans have faith in the team. I have all the faith in the world in the team and you. You will play for your shot at the cup." Karen leaned up and kissed him to put an end to her point.
"Thanks for that." Sidney said as he held her tighter.
"Anytime baby, anytime."
They sat together for a little bit in silence. Karen enjoyed it when they would get the chance to do this. It wasn't long before Karen felt her hair being pushed aside and Sidney's mouth was on her neck. She felt his hot breath and wet lips attack her skin. Karen turned her head to him wanting to feel his lips on hers. Sidney held her waist and put her down on the couch with him lying down on top of her. Soon enough, they were interrupted by a phone ringing.
"You seriously got to be kidding me?"
"Um, that ain't my ringtone."
"I know, it's mine" Sidney said going back to her neck "they can leave a voicemail."
"Wow, Sidney Crosby is not going to answer his all important cell phone? I can't be that lucky can I? You may want to get that, it might be Nike with a counter offer."
Sidney lifted his head to look at Karen who couldn't keep a straight face and started laughing too "I can't believe you just said that."

They stood there in the hallway and Karen didn't want to turn him down where the guys could hear them.

"Before you finish that just come with me for a minute." Sidney grabbed her hand and they went into his room. "I know you want me to be concentrating on the game tomorrow and I understand why you want me to be alone tonight, but after everything that happened today, I just want you here. I want to hold you all night. I want to fall asleep listening to your breathing and heartbeat. I want to wake up and have you be the first thing I see before I go to our morning skate. As much as I love it when we make love, tonight wasn't about that. It's about just being together."

Sidney turned on the tv and flipped through the channels. He got up and went to the bathroom, opening the door. He found Karen's clothes on the sink and picked them up. He took them out of the bathroom and hid them in the room. He walked back to the bathroom and got undressed. Sidney moved the curtain back as quiet as he could and stepped in behind Karen.

Karen laid there and couldn't believe this was happening to her. She got up and went to the bathroom. When she was done, she was about to get dressed when she realized she had no clue where her clothes were. She was about to start looking around when her cell phone went off.
"Hello"
"Look in the middle dresser drawer...you'll find your clothes in there. Love you."
Before Karen could respond, Sidney hung up. She smiled when she heard him laugh and closed her phone. Karen went to the dresser and found her clothes getting dressed. As she began to leave, she stopped and wrote Sidney a note. She put it on top of his bag and left. Karen was thankful that all the guys were gone when she left the hotel.
A while later, Karen pulled up to Todd's house and went in to three people waiting for her.
"You know, its always courteous to call when you're going to be late."
"How am I late when I never came back last night?"
"Exactly, you are late coming back from LAST NIGHT!"
"Sorry mom but to make up for it I did find an iHop and brought us all breakfast."
"Damn Diane, give the girl a break she brought us food."

"Actually, we just went to sleep."
"You disappoint me girl" Sheril said "you are going to tell me you didn't ride that stallion all night long?"
"Well, we did have one little encounter in the shower before we went to bed, but no, we actually slept all night. It was probably more amazing than when we do make love. Just having him hold me and then waking up to him was wonderful."

"Yeah I guess I do. That's why it'll be hard to be away from him if they make it to the finals."
They all stopped eating and looked at her "what are you saying? Are you guys breaking up?" Natalie asked.
"No nothing like that. I told him that if they made it into the finals, I was going to remove myself until it was over. I know he's played great up until now, but he really needs no distraction from me next round. This is what he worked his whole life for, I am not going to be the one to make him lose it."
"That's not a bad idea Karen. You truly do love him to do that for him." Diane said.
"Thanks. I'll miss being with him, but I know its for the best."
"What did Sid say about it?"
"He agreed with me. If I didn't say it, he would have."
"Well just look at it this way, when you guys hook back up, you'll be shagging a Stanley Cup Champion."
Karen just laughed and they all went back to their breakfast. They decided to lounge around until game time.

He had hoped that maybe Karen would have stayed to wait for him but she left. He put his bag down by the others but saw a piece of paper on another bag. Sidney recognized Karen's handwriting and smiled, sitting on the bed to read what it said.

Sidney laid down on the bed with the letter still clutched in his hand, turning on the tv to relax.
At 5p Todd dropped off Alexander at the babysitter and they all headed to the game. As they were waiting outside Karen got a message on her phone. She took a few steps away and read it.
Missed holding you during my nap, but I will forgive you since I will get you after we get back to Pitt. I love you.
Karen smiled and texted him back before joining her friends. A little bit later, the doors opened and they were going inside.
Before heading to the ice for warm ups, Sidney heard his phone go off. He grabbed it and read the message.
Stop thinking of me and get ready to kick some Philly ass! BTW...I love you too.
Sidney laughed then closed his phone, putting it away. He headed out to the ice and first thing, looked for Karen. He saw she wasn't in her seat yet and started shooting pucks. By the time warm ups were done and the players were coming off the ice, Sidney looked up and saw Karen looking directly at him. They both smiled at each other and Sidney skated off. Karen laughed to herself when the girls in front of her started squealing happily thinking that Sidney smiled at them. Natalie just looked at Karen and they busted out laughing.
The game got under way and saw the Flyers come out and scored the first three goals in the first period. Karen had a bad feeling in her stomach but also saw it as Philly clinging on. The Pens finally got on the board with 2 goals in the third and saw life to come back but when the Flyers scored it put the game out of reach. The game ended with the Pens losing 4-2. Karen could see the frustration on Sidney's face especially since he was in the penalty box for 4 minutes in the third. Before they got off the ice, Sidney did look up to find Karen still in the stands. He gave her a nod and she gave him a small smile both knowing went each meant. They left the arena and headed back to Todd's with Karen texting Sidney on the way there.
Sidney sat in the locker room and knew he had to deal with the media. His phone went off and got to it before being pulled from the room. He read the message on the way there.
I love you!
That was all Sidney needed to know before dealing with the media and heading back to Pittsburgh without Karen.
A while later, Karen was in the living room sitting in the dark. She couldn't fall asleep when all she could think about was Sidney. She knew they were heading back after the game and it would be late when he got home. Karen got up to go to the guest room and go to bed when her phone rang. She picked it up and smiled seeing Sidney's name on the caller ID.
"Hey stud"
"Hey baby. I didn't wake you did I?"
"No, I couldn't sleep but was going to try since we're leaving here about 8a. Where are you?"
"On my way home. We landed about 20 minutes ago."
"And you're just now calling me. Here I thought I was important enough that you would have had my number dialed as soon as you touched down."
"Trust me, you are very important to me, I just wanted to wait until I was alone to call you."
"Um, driving and phone sex don't mix baby."
Sidney could help but laugh "as much fun as that would be, I think I'll wait to have the real thing when you get home tomorrow."
"You ok with the loss tonight?"
"Yeah, I'm just taking it as them trying to cling on." He heard Karen laugh "what's so funny?"
"I had the same thought. That they were taking a page from the Rangers to hold on but they were just letting you guys win this series at home."
"Well great minds do think alike. I'm glad mine is linked to yours."
"Yeah, me too."
"Ok, as much as I hate to say this, you need to go to bed so you won't be tired driving back. Sweet dreams and I love you."
"I love you too baby. Get some sleep yourself and I will call you when I get home."
"Ok. Night my baby."
"Night my stud."
They hung up and Karen went to bed with a smile on her face.

Chapter 33
Everyone was outside having fun and playing around in the pool. Karen was standing near the pool's edge when she saw Sidney and the other guys talking. He gave her a smile and went back talking.
"5 bucks says they are plotting something over there" Natalie challenges Karen.
"10 bucks says either Max or Sid gets me in the pool" Karen countered her friend.
"Well we are about to find out" Natalie says before walking away.
"Hey baby" Sidney walked over and wrapped his arms around Karen. "You know we haven't spent much time together since we came back with the guys."
"No we haven't but that's probably because you have been over there plotting something with the rest of them."
"Me plotting something involving you? Baby, how could you even think that?"
"You've been over there with Max and Jordan and every now and then would look over here with evil smirks on your faces. I know you have something planned. So tell me, am I going in the pool?" Karen whispered the last part but Sidney just smiled. Next thing Karen knew, Max came running and grabbed her and they both went into the pool. When Karen came to the surface, she had swam to the side of the pool leaving Max towards the middle. As she got out, Karen was holding on to something. "Hey Max, missing something?" Karen laughed as she held up Max's shorts in her hands.
"How did you get those?" Max shouted.
"Ancient Chinese secret" she said laughing. Karen walked over to Sidney who gave her a kiss. She handed him Max's shorts "be a friend and give these back to him." As Karen handed them to Sidney, she gave him one big push and he went right in. She waited for him to surface "never plot against me baby, it will come back to ya." Karen walked away laughing grabbing a towel and heading inside.
"Sounds like a party going on out there."
"Oh hey Amy. When did you get in?"
"Just now. What's going on outside?"
"Todd said Sidney could come over to hang out but what he ended up with was four tag-a-longs. The guys plotted to throw me in the pool, I stole Max's shorts after we were in the water, and then gave them to Sid to give them back to Max and then pushed him in."
"Good girl" Amy started laughing. "Is everyone staying for dinner?"
"Yeah, Todd went and got some steaks and he's going to put them on the grill in a little bit. Where's Alexander?"
"He's putting his things away."
A minute later Karen and Amy heard something crash and feet running towards them with mumbling.
"Sidney Crosby in the pool. Sidney Crosby in the pool. Sidney Crosby in the pool."
"Alex, what's going on?"
"Sidney Crosby is in the pool mom" Alex said making them laugh. He darted outside and ran right up to Sidney. Karen and Amy walked out after him and watched as he jumped into the pool and splashed Sidney and the others.
A little bit later, everyone was out of the pool and drying out. Todd got the grill going, Amy was getting everything else done with the help of the girls, and Alexander was occupying Sid and the other's attention. Every now and again Sidney would look into the kitchen and just watch Karen and how she was with her friends. He loved how they could be themselves and her friends didn't care who he was. Why his dad couldn't or wouldn't see this part of her was beyond him.
Soon enough the steaks were done and they all sat down to eat. Karen didn't feel like having steak and just stayed with a huge salad and vegetables.
"Something wrong with my cooking Karen?" Todd asked.
"No, just not in the mood for steak. I'm fine with what I have."
"So basically your steak will end up as leftovers or go to waste."
"Um, Todd look around the table. Between these guys, there will be no leftovers. I've seen them eat, its scary."
"What are you exactly saying Karen?" Max inquired.
"That you guys are either starving hockey players or just pigs. Which would you prefer?"
"Karen, you know they won't be able to make that decision" Sheril added in "you can't choose when you're both."
"Well you guys are holding up pretty good with us, what does that make you guys?" Ryan jumped in.
All the women chimed in at the same time "hungry". Everyone laughed and continued having a good time. Karen noticed Sidney was quiet throughout the whole bantering going on.
"You ok?" Karen asked leaning over to Sidney.
"Yeah I'm fine. Why?"
"You're just being really quiet. Are you still mad that I pushed you in? You really haven't talked to me since then."
"No, of course not. We were having fun and you did what you had to do."
"Then what is it?"
Sidney got up and brought Karen up with him. They headed inside but not before they endured some ribbing from the others.
"My god you two, at least let your food digest." Jordan yelled after them.
"Really, ya'll must be part rabbit" Sheril added which got a look from Karen.
Karen followed Sidney inside and found him in the living room. "So what's going on?"
"There's nothing going on I've had so much fun today with you and everyone that it just makes me wonder why my dad can't see this part of you."
"Sid, I know out of everyone in your life your dad's opinion means the most to you and something deep inside you wants his approval of us and our relationship. I hate to tell you this but I don't see it coming. I am fine with it now, I just need you to be too."
"I will be. Sorry for turning the mood sour."
Karen hugged him "you turned nothing sour baby. Its a constant hang up that will follow us until he changes his mind." She pulls back to look him in the eyes "I just want you to remember that I love you. That is the main thing here."
"That is the only thing here." Sidney leaned in and kissed her. It was about to get a little more intense when Amy called them for dessert. "I already have my dessert in my arms" he whispered.
"Down boy, remember there is a 7 year old in the house. Besides, you're going back to the hotel tonight with your boys out there."
"Why aren't you coming with me?" Sidney said almost whining.
"Because you have a game tomorrow. This is your chance to sweep the Flyers, you need to be ready."
"We'll be ready."
"Good" she smiled kissing him "but you're still going back alone." Karen left Sidney standing there and headed back outside. Sidney just shook his head and laughed following her.
Everyone looked up and saw Karen then Sidney come back out. "What's with all the stares?"
"8 minutes? Is that a record for you two?" Max asked with his eyebrow raised. Karen walked past Max and hit him on the head as she sat back down. "I'm just curious, gives me hope."
"You're going to stay curious for awhile Max."
"Fine, I'll just get all the details from Sid in the locker room...well more than what he's already shared with us."
"I'm so glad I sent Alexander in for his bath already."
"Sorry Ames, I should have warned you it was going to get like this with these guys."
"It's ok. I'm sure he's walked in on worse."
"Worse than Max?" Karen said with a smirk.
"You fight it now, but just wait Karen, you will seek me out."
She turns to Sidney with pleading eyes "help?"
"You get yourself into these situations baby. I can't always bail you out." he said with a smile.
Karen knew exactly what Sidney wanted and if she wanted his help she'd have to give in to him. She had another idea to see who would break first.
"You know Max" Karen put her hand over his bicep and lightly squeezed "you're right. Why should I fight this anymore. Maybe we should see what could happen."
"Um, what about Sid?"
"I'll let the girls share him for a night." Karen and Max looked up when they heard silverware drop and saw all eyes on them. "Out of everybody, you're not going to take me up on this offer Sheril." When everyone looked at Sheril for her answer, Karen winked at her to play along.
"Hell yeah I'll take you up on the offer. Steve doesn't have to know."
"What is going on here?" Jordan asked confused.
"Max said it himself. I need to stop fighting his advances and just take him up on it." Karen looked from Jordan to Sidney. He sat there in disbelief and couldn't believe she was doing this to him. "Do you have a problem with all this Sid?"
Sidney knew the game she was playing and wondered how far she would take it too. "No I don't have a problem with it at all." He kept his eyes locked on Karen's and waited for her to give in. When she didn't he upped the stakes more. "The only thing is, if the girls get to share me and you only take Max, that's three to one baby. Are you going to be fine knowing your best friends all had me?"
"You forget Sid, best friends share everything. I will just have others to compare notes with. But on the other hand, are you going to be fine knowing that Max will know everything about me that only you should know?"
"Ok who are you people and is there any Tylenol? I need something to help understand this headache." Todd asked as they all laughed.
"I think what we have here is a battle of who is going to back down first." Marc said sitting back in his chair.
"Thanks for spoiling it. You know this opportunity won't come around again." Natalie said in a mock whining tone.
"How do you think I feel?" Max said with a dejected look.
Sidney looked over to Karen and saw she was still holding onto Max's arm "ok baby, game over. Could you let go of his arm now?"
"Who said anything about this being a game?" she said while putting her head on Max's shoulder.
"Alright fine, you win baby." Sidney said grabbing her hand and holding it "will you let go of him now?"
Karen moved away from Max, to his disappointment "well it was fun while it lasted."
"Sorry Max but it wouldn't have been believable with anyone else."
"At least you came out on the easy end of it. I lost her game and I still go back to the hotel alone tonight."
"Aww, poor baby. You'll get over it." Karen caressed his cheek.
"Yeah whatever." Sidney said pouting
Everyone sat there and laughed.
"As much fun as all this was, we need to get back" Marc said standing up.
"Wow, it's 8:30p already" Ryan said looking at his watch.
Sidney stood up and Karen went with him "thanks Todd, Amy for dinner. I know we all enjoyed a relaxing night out."
"Actually we should be thanking you guys for wanting to come join us tonight."
"And I know Alexander won't forget this night either."
Karen walked the guys out with Todd. "I'll be back after I drop them off."
"If you want to stay with him it is fine with me Karen" Todd told her.
"I appreciate that but I want him rested for the game. Besides, I hate leaving everyone like this. I know you guys understand but it's still not right to do that all the time."
"Gotcha. I will see you tomorrow then since I will be in bed when you get back."
"Ok, night Todd." Karen got to the car and laughed as they were all piled in the backseat and Sidney was comfortable up front. She pulled out and headed to the hotel. About 20 minutes later, Karen pulled into the parking garage of the hotel and parked the car. Everyone got out and Sidney held Karen back by the car as the others walked to the elevator after telling her goodbye.
"You sure I can't change your mind about staying with me?"
"Nope. You know you need this, you just need to admit it to yourself that you need it."
"I know but it's nice waking up with you before the day gets hectic for a game."
"Aww, sweet talk will get you what you want...except for tonight."
"Fine, I'll stop trying but could I possibly entice you to at least join me in the elevator up to my floor?"
"I think I can do that."

When they got on and the doors closed Sidney had Karen pushed up against the wall and his lips were on hers for a searing kiss. His hand made its way under Karen's shirt and was caressing her breast. If Sidney couldn't get her to stay by asking her, he was going to convince her another way. They felt the elevator stop and Sidney brought his hand out from under her shirt.
"Now if that didn't convince you to stay, I don't know what will."

Chapter 32
Karen couldn't sleep during the night and she woke up around 5. She looked up and saw how peacefully Sidney was when he slept. She carefully got out of his grasp and went to the bathroom. When she came out, she grabbed Sidney's shirt from the floor and put it on. Pushing the chair over by the window, Karen sat there and propped her feet up on the window sill, staring out at the scenery. She couldn't get her run in with Sophia out of her head.
"Hey, what are you doing all the way over there?" Sidney said sitting up and looking at her.
"I couldn't sleep."
"Well why don't you come back and lay with me anyway." Karen got up and walked over to the bed and started to climb in but was stopped "um, the shirt must go. No clothing allowed." Karen just smiled and slowly unbuttoned the shirt. She let it fall to the floor and crawled in bed and back into Sidney's arms. "See how much better that is."
"Yeah I guess it is."
"What's wrong? Are you still mad about the puck bunny comment?"
"Not really." Karen said still sounding uneasy.
"Ok, let's try that again."
"I'm not mad from what you said but from what happened and then you make a comment like that I just didn't think it was funny."
"You might want to let me in with what you're talking about."
"Before game 2, I was looking through the crowd down by the players' lot and found Sophia. Don't know why she waited until now to start coming to the games, but she's out and made her presence well known to me."
"What did she tell you?"

"YOU DID WHAT?" Sidney sat up angrily and looked at Karen with disbelief.
"You have nothing to worry about. As long as she knows your single, she won't touch you. That's her game Sid. She preys on the attached and if she knows your still not then we have nothing to worry about." Karen brought her hand up and caressed his cheek. Sidney's face softened and they laid back down. "But knowing she out there waiting until we slip up scares me. No guy has ever turned her down."
"Well I think we've established that I am not your average guy." Sidney turned on his side and faced Karen "and I will be able to turn her down. I am not going to jeopardize what we have for one night with her." He kissed her then held her as close as he could get her. Sidney fell back alseep but Karen stayed awake for a few more minutes "its not you that I'm worried about" she whispered to herself before going back to sleep.
A few hours later, Karen woke up to the shower going and Sidney not beside her. She thought about joining him but when she went to get out of bed, the shower stopped. Karen grabbed her clothes and got dressed.
"Well that's not nice to sneak around and get dress while I was in the shower."
"Sorry but I figured with the time, you needed to get to practice which means we don't have time to play."
Sidney wrapped his arms around her "the life of a hockey player's girlfriend huh?"
"That's ok, I don't mind it."
"Are you going to stay around while I'm gone?"
"Probably not. I'll call one of the girls to come get me."
"Then how will I see you after practice?"
"I could always come back you know...just to kidnap you and take you with me."
"Where would you want to take me?"
"Someplace where there are only a few people and you don't have to be anybody but you."
"I love that" Sidney kissed her "but unfortunately I need to get ready."
"I know. Go finish and I am going to call Sheril to come get me" Karen gave him a quick kiss and pulled away from him so he could get ready.
When they were ready, they left the room and ran into Ryan Malone and Max at the elevator.
"Karen? I didn't know you where here. Were you here last night?"
"Yeah. Nobody was out to see me I guess."
"I guess that could be it" Max said getting on the elevator with the door closing " maybe it was because we didn't hear you either."
Karen just looked at Sidney who tried to hide his laughter. When the elevator came back up, Karen got on and just stood there. Sidney tried to hold her but she kept moving away until she was up against the wall and he was pressed up to her. "I don't think you can go anywhere else baby."
"I could if I wanted to."
"Then why aren't you trying then?"
"Because I don't want to" she whispered bringing him closer to her as their lips met in a very heated kiss. They felt the elevator stop and pulled away from each other. Before the door opened, Sidney gave her one last kiss and then let go of her and got out first. A minute later Karen got off and went to wait for Sheril to come get her.
A few hours later Karen was sitting around the deck with the girls. Todd had gotten home a little bit ago and went to relax with them. Karen's phone went off and it was Sidney telling her he was done. She told him she would meet him in a half hour and they hung up.
"Todd, you mind if I bring Sidney over for awhile?"
"You're going to bring him here? To my house?"
"Unless you have a condo hidden away that Amy doesn't know about, yeah I was thinking here. I thought it would be nice for him to just relax away from everything for a few hours. Do you mind?"
"No, of course not. Besides Alexander would love to meet him. How about when you go to get him, I will go to the store and get some steaks so we can cook out."
"He'll love that. Thanks Todd, you are a great friend. I will be back in a little bit."
Karen headed to the hotel and called Sidney to tell him she was there. He had her pull under the hotel in the garage. He was waiting for her and got in when she pulled up. Karen headed back to Todd's and let him know what was going on. Sidney was more than happy to have a normal night. When she pulled up to the house, they got out and went inside.
"Hey Todd?" Karen yelled walking into the house.
"I'm in the kitchen" he yelled back.
Karen walked into the kitchen and saw Todd getting everything ready. "Hey, um I hope you don't mind but..."
"He wasn't able to come back with you. That's ok, we can still cook out." Todd said sounding dejected.
"Actually, Sidney's here, its just I didn't only bring him. Is it ok that a few other players came too?"
"Karen, don't kid around like that" Todd walked past her and into the living room. His jaw almost hit the floor when he saw who else came.
"It's not my fault, they all rushed the car and climbed in. I couldn't just kick them out."
"Yeah you could have baby" Sidney said putting his arm around her waist.
"I think it's safe to say that Karen wants to stay on our good side" Max said winking at her.
Karen looked at Sidney and kissed his cheek "I am so killing you. Anyway, Todd I'm not sure who all you met last night but let me introduce Jordan Staal, Max Talbot, Ryan Whitney and Marc-Andre Fleury."
"It's a pleasure guys. Please make yourself at home. My wife and son should be home soon and then we can get dinner started."
"Yeah, I'm thinking we should call and warn them" Karen smirked especially at Max.
"I think you need to just give in to me all together Karen. You know you want me."
"Only if you and I were the last humans on earth."
"Even then it still won't happen Max."
"Ok, I think the display of masculinity needs to stop. We were hanging out by the pool before I came to get you guys, shall we had back out there?"
"Sounds good. Maybe I'll have to take off my shirt and go for a swim" Max said flexing his muscles as he walked past Karen.
"The man needs help."
"I'll definitely agree to that" Sidney kissed her head and they headed out to join everyone.
"Hey, what are you doing all the way over there?" Sidney said sitting up and looking at her.
"I couldn't sleep."
"Well why don't you come back and lay with me anyway." Karen got up and walked over to the bed and started to climb in but was stopped "um, the shirt must go. No clothing allowed." Karen just smiled and slowly unbuttoned the shirt. She let it fall to the floor and crawled in bed and back into Sidney's arms. "See how much better that is."
"Yeah I guess it is."
"What's wrong? Are you still mad about the puck bunny comment?"
"Not really." Karen said still sounding uneasy.

"I'm not mad from what you said but from what happened and then you make a comment like that I just didn't think it was funny."

"Before game 2, I was looking through the crowd down by the players' lot and found Sophia. Don't know why she waited until now to start coming to the games, but she's out and made her presence well known to me."

Chapter 31
Karen and everyone were sitting in their seats as players from both teams came out for warm ups. They were sitting center ice behind the penalty box and Karen had a great view of the Penguins' bench. To look at the section they were in, they were the only four people in a 10 row radias that was wearing Penguins' gear and Karen hoped Sidney would be able to pick her out. She continued to watch Sidney skate around and every now and then he would scan the crowd to find her with no luck.
"So, what made you take me up on my offer this year for tickets Karen?" Todd asked.
"I just figured it was their year and I didn't want to miss this round. You know I love the state rivalry that goes on between the Pens and Flyers. Besides, it sparks our emails to each other at work." Karen replied.
As they were talking, Sheril interrupted them and pointed to the ice. Karen saw Jordan and Evgeni talking and look directly at her. She smiled and waved at them and she knew Sidney would know soon enough.
"Do you know them?" Amy, Todd's wife asked Karen.
"Yeah, we all do. We've hung out with a few of them after games and practices."
"But you're not telling the best part Karen." Sheril said with her eyebrow cocked.
"What's the best part Karen?" Todd asked curiously.
Before Karen opened her mouth Diane told her to look down towards the ice. When Karen turned her head she saw Sidney standing there with Jordan and he was pointing directly at her.
"OH MY GOD! Are you dating..."
"Amy I really, really need you to not finish that sentence here" Karen said interrupting her in a whisper. "Yes, I am dating Sidney Crosby but you can not let it get out these next few days."
"I won't say anything, I promise." Amy said then gave Karen a reassuring smile.
Karen took out her cell phone and sent Sidney a text. She held it up when he stopped and looked at her telling him to check his phone when he got back in the locker room. He smiled at her and gave her a slight nod before getting off the ice. Sidney sat in his stall and looked at his phone, opening the message Karen sent.
"I knew you'd find me with a little help from your friends. Good luck tonight stud. I Love you!"
Sidney smiled reading her words and texted her back. He closed his eyes, had a last thought of Karen and took a deep breath getting his head ready for the game.
Karen felt her phone go off and opened it to reveal a text from Sidney. "We will definitely talk after the game but I'm glad you came. I love you too." Karen flipped her phone shut and put it back in her pocket as the game was getting ready to start.
The game went on and ended with the Pens winning 4-1. Sidney had a couple of assists and Karen saw how happy he was. They were one win away from advancing to the Stanley Cup finals. As they all began to leave, Karen felt her phone go off and grabbed it seeing a new message from Sidney. "Wait for me at the players entrance. I will have someone come get you. Bring your friends too." She closed her phone and pulled her friends aside.
"Do you guys want to go down to meet up with Sidney?"
"Yeah, where do we need to go?"
"He said to meet at the player's entrance. Would you like to meet him Todd?"
"Are you serious?"
"Yeah. You're the reason I'm here so why not."
"Hell yeah. To say that I got to meet the next 'great one' everyone will be jealous. I'll show you where the players go in."
They all headed down and were told they needed to be behind the fence. Karen told the security guard what was going on and he said someone had come out and told them that she and her friends were coming. He radioed inside and soon someone came out to get them, taking them inside to near the locker room. Karen was told that Sidney was still giving post game interviews and that he would be done in a little bit. Karen had found the others and had introduced them to Todd and Amy. They took a good ribbing being Flyer fans, but Todd was in all his glory. Soon, Karen saw Sidney enter the room and go sit in his stall putting his head in his hands. Karen walked over and sat beside him, not saying a word until he looked up at her.
"Whatcha doin?" Karen said smiling at him.
Sidney put his arms around her and pulled her into a hug "why didn't you tell me you were coming in for the game?"
"I wanted to surprise you" she said pulling away from him. "Do you know how hard it was to talk to you last night like I was still at home and going to work?"
"I think you enjoyed torturing me like that, but I am glad you're here."
"Up to meeting someone before you get your shower? He has to leave because he has to work tomorrow morning."
"He?" Sidney questioned with a little uneasyness.
"My friend Todd and HIS wife Amy."
"Well in that case, sure."
Karen called them over and introduced them. "Todd, Amy I would like for you to meet Sidney Crosby. Sid, this is my friend Todd and his wife Amy. He works at the Cabela's store in Hamburg and the one who offered up his tickets to me."
"It's nice to meet you Todd, Amy" Sidney said shaking their hands.
"The pleasure's all mine Sidney" Todd said excitedly. "Just because I am a Flyers fan doesn't mean I am not a fan of yours."
"You are amazing to watch" Amy chimed in.
"Thanks a lot. I really appreciate the support no matter what team you cheer for."
"I really hate to break up this moment, but Todd we need to head home" Amy told them.
"Sure you guys can't stay and hang out at the hotel?"
"As much I would love to man, I have to be at work for 4a."
"You know, there is a reason why the company gives us personal days" Karen stated.
"True but I only have one left so I need to save it."
"Fine, I guess we better go" Karen said standing up.
Sidney stood and grabbed her hand and pulled her aside "do you have to go with them?"
"Kind of need to, we all came together. We can meet up tomorrow."
"Stay with me tonight" Sidney said looking deep into her eyes.
That was all Karen needed to hear. Todd came over to get her and she told him that she was staying with Sidney and she would meet back up with them tomorrow. Sidney asked Todd if he could drop Karen off at the hotel for him and he would meet up with her there. He told Karen to wait in the bar and he would come get her when they got there. They left Sidney so he could get a shower and get to the bus to take him and the team to the hotel.
Awhile later, Karen was at the bar in the hotel with a drink watching the game's highlights as she waited for Sidney. She heard a commotion in the lobby and knew the team was coming in. Karen had a perfect view of the lobby from where she sat in the bar. She saw the guys walking past and when Sidney walked past he held up his hand to tell her to give him a couple minutes and he'd be back. As she sat there, her phone went off and Karen read the message.
"Go to the elevator and get off on the 11th floor."
Karen got up, walked to the elevators and pushed the button for the 11th floor. After the short ride up, the doors opened and Karen saw Sidney leaning up against the wall staring at her with a huge smile. She got off the elevator and right into Sidney's arms. They stood there holding on to one another for a few minutes before they pulled apart and headed to Sidney's room.
"Is anyone going to care that I'm in here with you?"
"Well noone seems to care when we have all the puck bunnies that float around from room to room."
"We?" Karen looked at him. "And is your room one of the stops?"
"Ok, I was only joking but apparently that's not how you took it." Sidney saw the look on her face "I'm sorry I shouldn't have said it" he walked over to her and pulled her close to him "Nobody will care that you're here because they know your my girlfriend that I love very much." Sidney saw a small smile appear on her face and he leaned in and kissed her.
"Mm, do you realize that it had been almost an hour and a half before you kissed me?"
"Well it's not like I was able to do this at the arena."
"You could have, it just would have been all over the news, in the papers, on ESPN...."
"I got it, our relationship would have been everywhere" Sidney said laughing. "I don't know about you, but I like that only a few people know about us."
"Me too. So now that I have surprised you and I am here with you, what do you plan to do with me?"
"The possiblilities are endless baby."
"Well why don't we just concentrate on one for right now." Karen said as she undid his tie and dropped it to the floor. She untucked his shirt, putting her hands under it and ran them over his chest. She pulled them out and unbuttoned his shirt, removing it off his shoulders and letting it fall to the floor.
"You're having fun with this aren't you?"
"Shouldn't I be?" Karen said as she started unzipping his pants. She was about to pull them down when Sidney stopped her.
"You should, but I think it's my turn."
Sidney grabbed the bottom of her jersey and pulled it over her head throwing it on the floor. He did the same to the t-shirt she had on underneath. Sidney untied her shorts and pulled them off her hips letting them fall the rest of the way. Karen did the same to Sidney's pants to where they were both standing there in just their underwear. Sidney lifted Karen up and put her on the bed, crawling on top of her. His lips crashed down on hers in a heated kiss and they stayed that way for awhile. The fact was, Sidney had no plans to rush this and it turned him on more just kissing her. Their hands were roaming around and finally made way to remove the last articles of clothing between them. "You know, there is a reason why the company gives us personal days" Karen stated.
"True but I only have one left so I need to save it."
"Fine, I guess we better go" Karen said standing up.
Sidney stood and grabbed her hand and pulled her aside "do you have to go with them?"
"Kind of need to, we all came together. We can meet up tomorrow."
"Stay with me tonight" Sidney said looking deep into her eyes.
That was all Karen needed to hear. Todd came over to get her and she told him that she was staying with Sidney and she would meet back up with them tomorrow. Sidney asked Todd if he could drop Karen off at the hotel for him and he would meet up with her there. He told Karen to wait in the bar and he would come get her when they got there. They left Sidney so he could get a shower and get to the bus to take him and the team to the hotel.
Awhile later, Karen was at the bar in the hotel with a drink watching the game's highlights as she waited for Sidney. She heard a commotion in the lobby and knew the team was coming in. Karen had a perfect view of the lobby from where she sat in the bar. She saw the guys walking past and when Sidney walked past he held up his hand to tell her to give him a couple minutes and he'd be back. As she sat there, her phone went off and Karen read the message.
"Go to the elevator and get off on the 11th floor."
Karen got up, walked to the elevators and pushed the button for the 11th floor. After the short ride up, the doors opened and Karen saw Sidney leaning up against the wall staring at her with a huge smile. She got off the elevator and right into Sidney's arms. They stood there holding on to one another for a few minutes before they pulled apart and headed to Sidney's room.
"Is anyone going to care that I'm in here with you?"
"Well noone seems to care when we have all the puck bunnies that float around from room to room."
"We?" Karen looked at him. "And is your room one of the stops?"
"Ok, I was only joking but apparently that's not how you took it." Sidney saw the look on her face "I'm sorry I shouldn't have said it" he walked over to her and pulled her close to him "Nobody will care that you're here because they know your my girlfriend that I love very much." Sidney saw a small smile appear on her face and he leaned in and kissed her.
"Mm, do you realize that it had been almost an hour and a half before you kissed me?"
"Well it's not like I was able to do this at the arena."
"You could have, it just would have been all over the news, in the papers, on ESPN...."
"I got it, our relationship would have been everywhere" Sidney said laughing. "I don't know about you, but I like that only a few people know about us."
"Me too. So now that I have surprised you and I am here with you, what do you plan to do with me?"
"The possiblilities are endless baby."
"Well why don't we just concentrate on one for right now." Karen said as she undid his tie and dropped it to the floor. She untucked his shirt, putting her hands under it and ran them over his chest. She pulled them out and unbuttoned his shirt, removing it off his shoulders and letting it fall to the floor.
"You're having fun with this aren't you?"
"Shouldn't I be?" Karen said as she started unzipping his pants. She was about to pull them down when Sidney stopped her.
"You should, but I think it's my turn."
Sidney grabbed the bottom of her jersey and pulled it over her head throwing it on the floor. He did the same to the t-shirt she had on underneath. Sidney untied her shorts and pulled them off her hips letting them fall the rest of the way. Karen did the same to Sidney's pants to where they were both standing there in just their underwear. Sidney lifted Karen up and put her on the bed, crawling on top of her. His lips crashed down on hers in a heated kiss and they stayed that way for awhile. The fact was, Sidney had no plans to rush this and it turned him on more just kissing her. Their hands were roaming around and finally made way to remove the last articles of clothing between them. As they continued to kiss, Karen felt Sidney grow harder against her that she couldn't stand it any longer. She whispered 'now' in his ear and Sidney smiled against her lips. He parted her legs wider and slowly entered her. He stayed still for a few minutes and didn't move. Karen knew he loved to torture her like this and she grew impatient. She began to make tiny movements under him because she couldn't take it anymore. Sidney knew what she was doing and put his hands on her hips, holding her down to stop her. "All in good time baby" Sidney whispered to her and began to move his hips. He pumped into her with limited movements, sending new sensations throughout her body. Karen closed her eyes and arched her head back into the pillow. Sidney attacked her neck, nipping at her when he felt her fingernails scratch his back. His movements got bigger and faster wanting to bring her over the edge. Karen could feel her muscles start to tighten and a shiver tingling down her spine. She couldn't hold it any longer and her body tensed up letting her orgasm rip through her body. Sidney felt her muscles clamp down on him and continued thrusting hard until he exploded inside of her. He stayed on top of her, kissing her neck until they had settled down.
"Damn, I think we just proved we can be quiet?"
"It might also have something to do with the whole team being on this floor and not knowing who would hear us?" Karen told him laughing.
"That could be it too but I think some of the guys would expect it."
"You want to explain that a little better."
"I'll just say that a few guys might know how you are."
"Well alright then. I guess now will be the time to tell you I will not be coming around the guys anymore."
"Oh stop, I could tell you about what Marc or Jordan says about their girlfriends if it'll make you feel better."
"Or I could just talk to them and ask them about the guys to have something over them."
"You are a devious one aren't you?"
"And you love it."
"Yes I do." Sidney kissed her before rolling off and pulling her to him. Karen cuddled up to him and just held on to him as they fell asleep.
