Chapter 95

The team got back late Tuesday night from Philly. By the time Sidney got home, Karen was up and getting out of the shower to go to work. She was surprised when she stepped out of the bathroom and saw him sitting on the bed.

"I think you should wear that to work baby."

"What are you doing here? I didn't think you'd be home until tomorrow morning."

Sidney got up and walked over to her, wrapping his arms around her towel clad body "since we play tonight, we left after the game."

"Well then you need to get to bed and sleep for a few hours."

"Do you have time to help tire me out?" he asked with eager, pleading eyes.

Karen looked at the clock and she had gotten up earlier than she normally did and knew she had plenty of time "I probably do have time."

"Well don't get excited about it or anything" Sidney said letting her go and walking to the bed. Karen just smiled and when he went to sit on the bed, she stood in front of him and dropped her towel. "Are you trying to entice me now?"

"No, but I have to get rid of the towel to get dressed. If you don't want to take advantage, then I will just take a few steps back and finish getting ready."

Sidney didn't make a move, so Karen took a step back. He still didn't move towards her and Karen took another step. Sidney sat there and smiled but when Karen turn and went to the dresser to pull out her clothes, Sidney jumped up and grabbed her "not so fast." He turned her around to face him, leaning in and kissing her. Sidney's hands roamed over her naked body with light touches that made Karen's body shiver. She began to undress him and Sidney broke the kiss to help. When he was completely undressed, he moved them towards the bed. He picked her up and put her in the middle of the bed, getting on the bed and covering his body with hers.

"Not to kill the mood, but where's your dad?"

"In the bedroom downstairs" he whispered.

"Good to know" she said before turning them over so she was on top. Karen moved her hips over him, getting a low moan to escape his lips. She felt him get harder as she continued her assault. Karen stopped and sat up on her knees, placing herself over him and sliding down on him. Karen stayed still for a minute before moving her hips in an upward motion. She put her hands to the sides of Sidney and leaned forward as she began to ride him. Sidney loved how Karen took control sometimes. It gave him a chance to watch her facial expressions, to watch her touch herself. It turned him on more knowing she didn't stay reserved and relied on him during their lovemaking. When she sat up, Sidney sat up with her and wrapped his arms around her. He let her be in control for a few more minutes before lying her on her back. Sidney got on his knees and hovered over her, pounding into her as hard as he could. Karen grabbed the bedframe at the foot of the bed letting her body enjoy the sensations Sidney brought upon her. As Karen's orgasm got closer for release, Sidney laid down on her bringing them over the edge together.

"If this is going to be a new ritual for us, I'm going to need to get up about a half hour earlier than normal."

"I just couldn't wait until tonight after the game."

"I don't buy that, but I don't have the time to argue it either since I now have 15 minutes left to get ready and leave on time" she said looking at the clock.

"Ok, I could have waited, but I wanted you to have a great start to your day."

"You just keep digging yourself deeper, huh?" she said laughing.

"Apparently" Sidney rolled off of her and let her up. Karen leaned back down and kissed him before getting her clothes and heading back into the bathroom. After she shut the door, Sidney knew what he wanted and hoped he could get her to want the same thing. A few minutes later, Karen emerged dressed and walked over to the bed.

"I'll see you when I get home."

"I'll be here. Have a good day baby."

"I will. Love you."

"Love you too." Sidney kissed her and watched her leave the bedroom. When he heard the front door close and her car start up, he went to the bathroom before getting back into bed and falling asleep.

Later that morning, Sidney had gotten up and headed to the arena for the morning skate. When their practice was over a couple hours later, the guys were in the locker room getting dressed to head out.

"Max, mind meeting me for a few minutes?"

"Sure, anything wrong?"

"No, just need some advice." They decided where to meet and each finished getting ready, heading out. A few minutes later, they met up and sat down.

"So what's going on Sid?"

"I've been thinking more and more about wanting to ask Karen to marry me."

"Really?" Max asked surprised "You've only known each other for 9 months, how can this be possible?"

"I love her Max. Everyday I am with or without her, I can't think of anything but her."

"I have the same feelings towards Natalie, but they aren't geared towards marriage. Are you sure this is what you want? Maybe you are just scared that something will take her away and you're just thinking marriage will keep her with you."

"Maybe but I don't want to be without her."

"Ok, what's really going on Sid?"

"I'm afraid that if I do ask her to marry me, she'll say no."

"She loves you almost as much as you love her, why would she say no?"

"Her last relationship made her realize that she could be loved and have mariage be a possibility and then it all got taken away from her. She's said that she doesn't know if she wants to get married. I just think if I find the right time to ask her, she'll say no and it'll crush me. I want her in my life Max."

"So you think that if she says no, it'll put a strain on your relationship?" Sidney just gave Max a look. "Maybe you need to just come out and tell her."

"Maybe you could. That's why I wanted to talk to you. Max, you and Karen are relaxed around each other and you are dating one of her best friends. I need your help with this."

"What do you want me to do Sid?"

"Just talk to her and see if you could figure out if I'm right about this. I need to know before I go ahead with this."

"You have it planned out already?"

"I have it planned in my head how I want to do it. Please Max, I need an insider and she won't suspect you like she would her friends."

"I can't just ask her straight out about it."

"No, but you could talk to her about Nat and then work into it."

"Alright Sid, I will help you." Just then Max's cell phone rang and he saw it was Natalie. He excused himself to answer it. Sidney sat there and thought about dragging Max into this. He needed leverage but more important, he wanted to make sure this was going to happen. Max made his way back over to the table "I need to head out. Natalie is on her way up here and she wanted to talk before the game. Hang in there and I will help you on this. I don't want you to lose Karen either, especially since I'm not available to date her."

"Thanks Max and if you could keep this to yourself..."

"I won't say a word man. See you tonight."

They said goodbye and then parted ways. Sidney went home knowing Karen would be home soon.

As soon as Max got to his apartment, Natalie was inside waiting for him. When he saw the look on her face, he knew he wasn't good news he was about to hear. But like Sidney and Karen, he was falling for her and would do anything to keep her in his life.

"Hey beautiful. What's the matter? You sounded so urgent to see me."

"We need to talk Max."

"Ok, I'm listening" he said sitting down beside her and putting his hand on her back.

"I'm late" she said in a voice above a whisper.

Max's eyes widen at what she meant "how many days late?"

"Right now....11 days. I'm scared Max" she said as tears began to fall. Max pulled her into his arms to hold her "I don't know what to do."

"Have you taken a home pregnancy test or gone to the doctors yet?"

"I have an appointment on Friday. What if I am?"

"Then you are" Max said turning her head to look at him "we will deal with whatever happens. You are not alone in this." Natalie offered a sad smile as Max held her closer to him.

By the time Sidney got home, Karen was already there. She was in the living room watching tv with his dad when he walked in.

"Hi dad, baby. It's not time for you to be home yet."

"There was a problem with the system going down and no reason to wait around so I didn't take a lunch and left earlier" she told him as he sat beside her. "I thought you would be here when I got home though."

"Max and I went out for coffee after and then he got a call from Natalie and needed to leave so we left."

"Sounds like it was urgent."

"That what he said. I guess she needed to talk to him about something before the game."

"Oh god, she's telling him now" Karen said with a sigh.

"You know?"

"Yeah, she told us on Saturday while we were watching the game."

"Do I need to leave so you two can talk?" Troy asked.

"No you're fine." Sidney didn't press it and they continued to sit and watch tv, talking every now and then. Around 2, he went upstairs for his nap and motioned for Karen to join him. Troy saw the exchange and just smiled at them. Karen shook her head and went to the stairs to follow him up. "You're going to get me in trouble with your dad by doing that."

"Did I forget to tell you that he likes you now?"

"Uh, yeah you did!"

"Sorry" he said placing a kiss to her lips "wanted to surprise you with the news that apparently both my parents like you now and approve of us living together."

"You're an ass for not telling me."

"I know but you love me anyway."

"That is a debatable argument waiting to happen."

"Oh just admit it, you love me."

"Fine, I admit it...I love you."

"See, was that so hard?"

"Yes it was and you are late getting your nap time. Go to sleep."

"Fine. Will you make me dinner?"

"Always. What are you in the mood for?"

"Just stop" he said kissing her "I love you."

"I love you too." Karen went to walk away but Sidney grabbed her and pulled her back for a searing kiss. They broke apart and he got into bed as Karen walked out of the room and went back downstairs.

Chapter 94

A few hours later, Sidney woke up and got his shower, getting dressed and heading downstairs. He saw his mom rummaging through the kitchen.

"Morning mom."

"Ok, I see a coffee maker, but can't find the coffee."

Sidney walked over to the freezer and pulled out the bag of coffee, handing it to his mom "she keeps it in the freezer to keep it fresher longer."

Trina looked at the bag confused "did you bring her this in August?"

"No."

"Did she bring it back with her?"

"Nope. Believe it or not, there is a Tim Horton's down in Wheeling. Karen took me there one morning for breakfast. It's a smaller chain store, but it does serve purpose."

Trina got the coffee started and sat down at the table with Sidney "Karen probably told you but we had a little talk yesterday."

"She told me. She said that you are leaving dad all to me."

"Sid, you are the only one to make him understand about your relationship with Karen. I can only tell him so much and you know he won't listen to her." She took his hand in hers "if you truly love her and want to be with her, you need to make him understand but you also just need to listen to him as well."

"I will and everything will be fine after the road trip."

"Do you plan to ask her to marry you?" Sidney looked up at his mom in disbelief "come on son, you don't give a girl a ring like that and not have something planned to go with it. So tell your ol' mom, do you?"

"Your not going to blab what I tell you to dad are you?"

"I will keep it between us, I pronise."

"I have been thinking more about it. Like now, she's only an hour away and I miss her like crazy. I don't think I can see the rest of my life without her."

"What if she tells you no?"

"Look, I know her feelings on marriage and her past relationship maybe ruined that, but we both know what we have and if living together until she's ready is right, right now then I will live with that. I just don't want to be without her." Sidney saw the look on his mom's face "what's the look?"

"Just that you're not my little boy anymore. She is special and I'm glad that I decided to learn that on my own."

"Yeah she is. I'm just glad I found her" he said getting up and walking over to get the finished coffee for him and his mom. "Can I ask you a question?" he said sitting back down.

"Ask me anything."

"Do you think she'd say yes?"

"If she loves you the way we all know she does, then I think she will." Trina looked at the smile that grew on Sidney's face "you have it planned out already, don't you?"

"I have an idea but I'm keeping it to myself. If I tell everyone and she would say no, I don't think I could handle what comes after that."

"Just make it memorable Sid and I don't think she could say no after that."

Soon Troy came into the kitchen "morning Sid."

"Morning dad. Ready to go?"

"Ready when you are" he said walking over and giving his wife a kiss when she handed him a cup of coffee "morning honey."

"Morning. I am going to get ready before you guys leave." Trina smiled at her son and then went to get dressed.

"Karen's got some good coffee" Troy said after taking a sip.

"It's Tim Horton's."

"Really?" he said surprised. "How did she managed to get this?"

"There's a Tim Horton's in Wheeling. She took me there one day."

"I'm starting to like her a little more."

It was Sidney's turn to be surprised "really?"

"Look, I know we have some things to talk about while we're on the road, but I am willing to step out of the father role and listen as a friend. If she's this important to you, I want to hear it all before I make my final decision about her."

"What do you mean, your final decision?"

"I will either like her or I won't but whatever I decide, I will not keep riding you about her. Deal?"

"Deal. I am going to get dressed so we can head to the arena." Sidney left his dad in the kitchen and went upstairs. As Troy sat there, he remembered how Sid is around Karen and how he can keep his focus on hockey too. He smiled to himself and finished his cup of coffee.

A couple days had passed as Trina and Taylor headed back to Canada. Karen decided to stay down in Wheeling during the week and was heading home for the weekend. The girls were coming up to stay with her and to watch the game Saturday afternoon against Colorado. Karen got lunch ready and they all sat around the coffee table eating and talking like old times.

"Man, we haven't done this in a while" Diane told everyone.

"Do you guys mind that I go to the arena with Sid now and then come out to meet you?"

"No, why would we?" Sheril asked.

"I don't know. It's just I feel bad making you guys drive up and wait for me."

"Then you need to share that Penguin benefit and let us come down there to wait too."

"I don't know if I trust you around the guys being that close to the locker room. Hell, I don't trust you being that close to the showers either."

"Thanks" she said in a sarcastic tone " I'm not that bad. You have always been worse then me."

"Yeah but now I'm allowed down there."

"Can I ask you guys a question...somewhat off topic?" Natalie asked the group. They all nodded and she continued "how many days late is considered time to panic?"

"How many days are you late?" Karen asked concerned.

"7."

"That's not too bad, only a week" Diane said in a motherly tone. "I think we've all been late before. I know I've been a few days. Sheril?"

"Yeah definitely, at least by 5. Kiki?"

"You all know my one scare...I believe I was 10 days and ready to hurt anyone in my path until I started. Does Max have any idea?"

"No and I need to be absolutely sure before I say anything to him. You have to swear to not say anything to Sidney either."

"I won't Nat. Eventhough he wouldn't say anything to Max, I still won't tell him. But you know even with just being late, you need to tell him what's going on."

"I know but the way he was with girls before me, I don't want to give him a way out."

How do you know he wants out?" Sheril asked.

"I don't and he might not want out, but it's all I can think about while hoping and praying I get this stupid womanizing curse" Natalie said getting a laugh out of the girls and making her crack a smile.

"It's going to be ok Nat. We're all behind you and if you want to tell Max, I will be there with you."

"Thanks but we'll see where I am when he gets back and take it from there." The girls all gathered around Natalie and gave her a hug before settling in for the rest of the game.

The game ended and the Pens lost 5-3 to the Avs. Karen knew that the boys and their dads were going to be doing some things around Colorado after the game, she just wondered if Sidney talked to his dad yet and what the outcome was.

Meanwhile in Colorado...

The team and their dads had a day planned to do things around the city when the game was over. They all went sightseeing and then had a group dinner. Sidney never really talked to his dad about Karen knowing the other guys or their dads were around, so he decided to wait until they were alone in the hotel room.

Sidney came out of the bathroom from getting his shower and his dad went in to get his. He took this time to call Karen since he hadn't talk to her in a few days.

"Hello" she said answering the phone.

"Hey my sexy baby. I miss you."

"Aw Jordan, I miss you too but Sidney will get mad if you keep calling me like this."

"Why do you do this to me?"

"Because it's fun. What's up stud?"

"I just couldn't stop thinking about you and needed to hear your sweet voice."

"Well I can't stop thinking about you but I want something other than hearing your sexy voice."

"You will definitely get something when I get home."

"Oh alright, I guess I can wait that long" she said pretending to be hurt. "Have you had a chance to talk to your dad yet?"

"Not yet. We're going to after he gets out of the shower. I just want him to understand about us and what we have going."

"And tell me Crosby, what do we have going here?"

"I love it when you call me by my last name."

"Quit stalling and tell me."

"What we have baby is love. Genuine, pure love."

"You are such a geek" she said laughing.

"When it comes to you, I am what I am. But we just don't have love."

"Really? What else do we have?"

"Exotic, raw, passionate sex" Sidney said then smiled when he heard her giggle.

"And yet you won't be home for me to play with for a couple more days."

"I'm sure you can amuse yourself until I get home."

"I can but having you makes it more fun."

"You're going to make me take a cold shower if you keep going like that."

"I can keep going but I'm not the one rooming with my father tonight."

"Well played baby." Sidney heard the shower shut off and knew his dad was going to be coming out soon.

"I wish you guys were coming home before heading to Philly."

"I know, me too. I hate long road trips like this and being away from you for so many days."

"You'll be back before you know it stud. I'm going to let you go."

"Ok. I love you baby."

Karen smiled to herself "I love you too. Night."

"Night." Sidney hung up and didn't realize his dad was leaning up against the door, looking at him.

"Karen?"

"Yeah. Wanted to say goodnight."

"I think you said a whole lot more there Sid."

Sidney sat up on the bed "what else can I tell you about her to make you like her?"

"I don't think there's anything else. Look, I heard the last few minutes of your conversation with her and you love her, I get that. You've been able to concentrate on your game even when you see her before. I've seen the way she looks at you and how she acts around you and I see how much loves you too."

"Wow, I didn't expect that from you."

"Sid, I want the best for you and if she's it right now I have to try and step back to let you do this on your own."

"Thanks dad, I really appreciate that. So you're not mad that I moved in with her?"

"I was but after being around you two the last few days, I see you're at home there with her."

"It just feels right with her dad."

"I know it does and finding love at any age is rare and you need to hold on to it when you have it. Look at your mom and I. She's probably mentioned this, but you two are just like us when we first got together."

"She told me" Sidney took a deep breath before saying the next thought "I bought her a ring for Christmas."

"The diamond solitare on her left ring finger."

"Yeah, I put it there after I gave it to her. I wanted you to know that I didn't propose, it's there to show her how much I love her."

Troy just nodded his head and got into bed "last piece of advice son" he turned to look at him "just think carefully about everything before you jump into anything."

"I will dad" Sidney said before getting into his bed and turning off the light "thanks for understanding dad."

"Anytime son, goodnight."

"Night dad." Sidney laid there for a few minutes and thought about what he said. The fact that the feeling of wanting to marry Karen got greater by the minute, he had to wonder if it would really happen for them.

Chapter 93

A couple hours later, Karen and Trina were finishing up dinner as Sidney was getting ready. Soon there was a knock at the door and Taylor ran to get it.

"Colby!" she said happily as she hugged him.

"What's up Tay? You sure are growing up there. Where's that brother of yours?"

"He's upstairs getting ready."

"Come on Crosby! It's not like you're going for a photo shoot, you're about the get all sweaty for 3 hours. The hair doesn't have to look THAT good" Colby yelled up the stairs.

Sidney came down the steps, smiling "either way I'll still look better than you Army" he said hugging his friend.

"Keep dreaming man. So where's this girlfriend of yours that I've heard nonstop about since the season started?"

"You know it's not polite to talk about me to others when I'm not around stud" Karen said coming from the kitchen.

"Stud? Are you sure you're not confused using that word and talking about Sid in the same sentence?"

"I'm not confused when it's true."

"I think we need to have a little talk."

"Like I am going to let you anywhere near her alone" Sidney said putting his arm around her. "Baby, I would like you to meet Colby Armstrong. Army, this is my girlfrend Karen" he said proudly.

"It's nice to finally meet you Colby."

"You too. It's nice to meet the girl who finally won this guy's heart. If he gives you any crap, you call me."

"She won't need to do that since she can stand on her own with that."

"I like her already."

Trina came out of the kitchen and greeted Colby and told all of them that dinner was done and on the table. They went in and sat around the table to eat. The conversation was geared at old stories when Colby played for the Pens. Karen loved hearing about how they were, especially on the road. She never thought Sidney could be that rambunctious but she figured most of it left when Colby did. After they got done eating, it was time for Sidney and Colby to head to the arena.

"Thanks for letting me come over for dinner Karen" he said as they walked to the door.

"Anytime Colby. I'm just sorry it wasn't a longer visit."

"I'm sure there will be plenty of time for that in the future" he said hugging her.

"Are you going to head to the arena with us baby?" Sidney asked before wrapping her up in his arms.

"Not right now. I'm going to get the kitchen cleaned up and head in with your parents."

Trina came out of the kitchen "Troy why do you go in with the boys and Karen, Taylor and I will head in after a while?"

"I was planning on it. You guys ready?"

Sidney gave Karen a look and she just laughed "well there goes my goodbye kiss" he whispered. Karen grabbed his jacket and brought him in for a kiss "maybe I was wrong." Sidney gave her another quick kiss before Colby pulled him away.

"Jeez Darryl, you think you weren't going to see her after tonight."

"Can't help it. Besides, I've seen you way worse with Mel."

"Let's finish this conversation later" Troy said getting the guys out the door. Karen stood there and watched Sidney leave before heading back into the kitchen.

"Trina, you don't have to help. I can get it while you get ready."

"That's ok dear, I helped cook so I might as well help clean up." Trina saw the ring on Karen's hand as they did the dishes "pretty ring, did Sid give that to you?"

Karen looked at her hand and took a deep breath wondering how to explain this "yes he did. Sidney wanted to talk to you and Troy about this together."

"Well we'll let him talk to his dad when they go on their road trip, but I think you and I should talk about it."

"He didn't propose if that's what you're thinking. This was one of my Christmas presents and he told me I could wear it on any finger, but when he put it on me, Sidney put it on this finger. I thought it felt right there and just left it there. He bought the ring to show his love and committment to me. I know Sidney is no where near ready for marriage and I'm not sure if I can see myself married. Just because I am wearing it on this finger doesn't mean we're jumping into something that he's not ready for" she told her.

"Thank you for being honest. I know how much Sid loves you, I've seen it not only today just at dinner but when you came up for Christmas. The way he looks at you when you're away from him any fool can see how much he loves you. My son is special and as parents we want the best for him but we can't keep him from what he wants. Maybe living together is best for you two right now."

"Really? I figured you and Troy would be mad that he moved out of Mario's and in with me."

"That call Troy got when Sidney told him, yeah it wasn't pleasant. But I had to remind him that you and Sid were just like us then. Troy doesn't want to see Sidney lose his focus and start making bad decisions when it comes to hockey and his endorsements. He'll come around, maybe after Sid talks to him."

"Thank you Trina for being understanding."

"Your welcome, besides I think you need someone on your side when it comes to my stubborn husband" she said hugging her "I'm going to get ready so we can go." Karen stood there with a smile then went to finish getting ready herself. The three of them headed to the arena and went down to the player's lounge for a little bit to meet up with Troy and Sidney. An hour later, Karen's phone rang and she needed to go meet up with the girls. Sidney pulled her aside before she left.

"We haven't got to spend any time together today. My game is really going to be off."

"No it won't. That intensity will shine through once you step out on the ice."

"Maybe it will but you never know."

"Oh stop it. You'll play great as always. Um, your mom and I had a little talk about my ring after you guys left. She said that it was best we talked alone and for you to tell your dad when you guys are on your road trip."

"How did you manage for that to happen?"

"It was your mom's doing. I told her that you wanted to tell them both together but she had other ideas."

"Maybe it would be best. I love you, don't think I got a chance to tell you today" he said placing a kiss on her lips.

"You say it in other ways stud. I love you too and have a great game."

"See you after?"

"Always." Karen leans up and kisses Sidney, letting him take it deeper before pulling away as her phone went off again.

"You have some very persistent friends."

"Well it is cold out there and they are wimps, so I better go."

"Ok. Love you baby."

"Love you too stud." She kissed him again then went to see her friends.

The game got under way and so did the Pens as they won 3-1. Geno set up all three goals for the Penguins and one was for Sidney. Karen was happy but sad because she knew she wouldn't be able to celebrate with him after the game because of work tomorrow. She said goodbye to her friends and made her way to the lounge, meeting up with his family. When Sidney was done with the media, he came out and joined everyone in the lounge. A little bit later, Karen said she needed to get home and get to bed for work when Sidney excused himself and Karen pulling her into the hallway.

"Colby wanted us to go hang out for a while at Diesel and I was hoping you'd join us for an hour or so."

"Baby, I'm not dressed for Diesel nor do I have clothes to change into to go to Diesel."

"I don't think they would stop you from going in if you're with me or the whole team would stop going there."

"Sid, I can't call off anymore from work."

"I know and all I am askng for is to come with us for an hour. You've gone to work after one, two...no hours of sleep. I want to spend some time with you before I leave for 8 days."

"We spend more time together than you do with your friends. Colby is only here for tonight go spend time with him, have some fun, and just come home to me when you're done."

"Always" Sidney leaned down and kissed her.

"Come on man, can't you keep your hands off of her for 5 minutes?" Colby said coming into the hallway.

"If only you knew Army, you couldn't keep away either."

"If I didn't have Mel, I wouldn't mind a go."

"And why doesn't it surprise me that she knows you do this" Karen asked laughing.

"Be prepared, we all do it" Colby said giving Sidney a look, which got a look from Karen as well.

"I am not as bad as the rest of these guys, I swear baby."

"Mmhmm, we'll talk later stud. Go have fun and I will see you later" Karen leaned up and kissed him "and Colby, you better make sure he leaves with only you or you will have to answer to me." Karen walked back into the lounge to get his parents and sister and left.

"Damn Darryl, she's a fiesty one."

"Only when it comes to me."

"Ok, that was more than I needed to hear. Go get your shower so we can go."

Sidney left Colby and went to get his shower. Twenty minutes later, he came out dressed and they headed to Diesel, meeting up with some of the guys. The team was in their usual VIP section of the club and soon, girls found their way up there. They tried to get to Sidney, which a couple succeeded but Sidney walked away to another area and Colby followed his friend.

"You must be in love to not even want to be around that over there. So tell me more about the girl?"

"Well, first of all, she's older than me."

"And you see that as a problem?"

"No, I don't mind it. But she's 16 years older than me. When and if the media finds out, I hate to see what comes upon her with it."

"As long as the age difference doesn't bother you, then there isn't a problem."

"It doesn't. When I first met her she actually schooled me on the ice."

"Say it isn't so" Colby said in disbelief.

"Yep, I read the play perfectly and she changed at the last minute scoring on Flower."

"How did you manage to find a girl that knows how to play the game?"

"I think she found me. Karen and some friends showed up at the arena while we were waiting for the next round in the playoffs to start. Her and Mario were friends and I guess she asked him if they could use the ice. He didn't know me, Flower, Staalsy, Whit, and Max were still on the ice. They came walking in and we ended up challenging them. After that I was hooked."

"So you made the first move then?"

"No, she did. She asked me to join her at a bar with her friends. But when I left her that night, all I could think about was her."

"And now 8 months later, you're living with her. I say there was some definite progress there. What's the deal with the ring then?"

"I gave it to her for Christmas to show my love for her."

"And where is this love taking you? A possible marriage proposal soon?"

Sidney stood there and wondered how to answer that "I don't know, maybe one day."

"Are you sure about that?"

"Yes I am. Army, she doesn't care what I do or how much money I make. Karen understands the game and doesn't sugar coat the losses or pick apart my playing. She tells me the truth whether I want to hear it or not and not one of those girls over there would keep her job and independence to be with me. It's like she's me, only female."

"My god, you found her didn't you?"

"Who?"

"The one."

Sidney just smiled at his friend "yeah, I think I did."

"Then why don't you go home to her."

"Thanks Army" he said giving his friend a hug "can I drop you off at the hotel?"

"If you don't mind." They told the guys they were leaving and headed out. Sidney took Colby to the hotel, then went home.

When Sidney got to the house, he went in quietly and headed upstairs. Karen was asleep in bed, facing his side and he smiled at the way the light shining through the window, outlined her body. He got completely undressed and crawled into bed, turning towards Karen and getting as close to her as he could. He found her lips, giving them a kiss until she stirred.

"Sid?" she said sleepily.

"Hey baby" he whispered.

"What time is it?"

"A little after 2a." Sidney moved his hand from her ass to her stomach. He found the hem of her shorts and snuck his hand inside, going all the way to her mound. "That's not what I meant."

"Well that's all I got and I need to get up to get ready for work."

"Was that worth all the teasing to make you late now?"

Karen got out of his grip and out of bed "yes" she said walking to the bathroom and getting ready for work. Sidney laid there with a smile on his face and waited for her to come out. When she did 20 minutes later, she was dressed and went to the bed to give him a kiss goodbye.

"I'll be gone before you get home today."

"I know. Good luck with the games and when you talk to your dad."

"The sooner he accepts this, the better we all will be. I love you baby."

"I love you too stud. Call me when you get a chance ok?"

"Ok." Sidney gave her one more kiss then let her go. Karen walked out of the bedroom and got her things, leaving the house for work. After Sidney heard the door shut and her car start then pull out, he grabbed her pillow and curled up to it falling asleep.

Chapter 92

As they were walking back to the house, their hands were connected together with their fingers intertwined.

"You know if you would just stop letting me win, then you wouldn't get mad me" Karen said breaking the silence. Sidney stopped and Karen didn't realize it until she was pulled back to him. They didn't say anything but the look coming from Sidney's eyes spoke volumes. He put his hand on her cheek and leaned in, placing a soft kiss upon her lips. The longer the kiss went, the more passion that poured into it. "Don't you think we should move from the middle of the street?" Karen said breaking the kiss. Sidney looked around at the deserted neighborhood and smiled before diving back in for another kiss. After a few more minutes, Sidney broke the kiss and grabbed Karen's hand, heading back to the house. They got in and settled in for the night.

The next couple of days went by and it was Tuesday. The team was home to play the Thrashers and when Karen got home, she found not only Sidney but a house full of Crosbys. As she walked in the house, she was greeted by Taylor who came up and gave her a hug.

"Your house is amazing Karen."

"Thanks Taylor, but it's nothing special."

"Well I like it." Karen smiled at her and hugged her again. Her smile got even bigger when Sidney came out of the kitchen with his parents directly behind him.

"Hey baby" he said giving her a kiss "how was work?"

"It was good. Corporate is thinking about changing the program around in the next month so it should be interesting to see what happens."

"You're still going to have a job though?"

"Oh yeah. It's nothing that drastic. They just are trying to find areas of the store that could use more help with what we do." Karen looked behind his shoulder "it's nice to see you again Troy, Trina."

"You too dear" Trina said as she walked over and hugged her "and Taylor is right, this house is beautiful."

"Thanks. I just kept it from how mom had it. I didn't want to change it after they died. Are you guys staying here?"

"If you don't mind." Troy asked.

"Not at all. Please make yourselves at home. There are two guest rooms, one off the kitchen and the other is upstairs."

"Taylor kind of claimed the one by the kitchen already."

"It's a great room too."

"My dad added that one on when they remodeled the kitchen." Sidney's cell phone went off and excused himself. "Trina, are you and Taylor staying any extra days when Troy goes on the road with Sid?" Karen asked as they went into the living room.

"We might stay an extra day if you don't mind."

"Not at all. I leave for work around 3am, but back by 1:30/2p. I can leave a house key if you guys venture out anywhere while I'm gone."

"That's sweet."

"Baby? Mind if another body drops by?" Sidney asked Karen as he came into the room.

"No, who?"

"Colby. He was hoping we could get together before the game."

"Wouldn't that put a dent into each of your pre-game rituals? Why not wait until after the game?"

"He can come over and have dinner with us and then we head to the arena, separately of course. I want him to meet you since all I did was talk about you last time we were in Atlanta."

"If it's not going to mess either one of you up, it's fine with me."

"Good, cause that's what I told him."

"Well then if you want to see your friend in a couple hours, you need to go take your nap now."

"She's tough" Trina said smiling.

"One more reason I love her."

Karen rolled her eyes, smiling "I'm going to get changed so I can find something to make for dinner."

"You'll make what you always make for me."

"Maybe not. Tonight could be different. Since your family is here, how about Russian, or Mexican...I know, Indian."

"Remember when I said I loved you, yeah starting to have second thoughts on that baby. Maybe I'll just have my mom cook" Sidney told a laughing Karen.

"Now that you mention it Karen last time we were here, Nathalie took me to this wonderful Japanese restaurant. Maybe we could put a to go order in?"

"You two are hopeless" Sidney said walking upstairs. Karen and Trina laughed before Karen went upstairs to change for the game. She saw Sidney sitting on the bed and smiled as she walked passed him, only to have him jump up and grab her around the waist. "You think your funny huh?"

"Well if I wasn't funny, then what would I bring to this relationship?"

"A hot ass body that I get to see naked every night."

"I am so glad you didn't say that in front of your parents."

"So I guess I don't get a napping partner today."

"Sorry stud, don't want to be rude to your parents and sister."

"Not like they won't understand. Besides, you're going to be tired tonight and one of my rituals will be off."

"I'll be fine and I have gone without a nap before going to a game and second, this is a new ritual. There's room for changes."

"Why can't we just be like this all day, everyday?"

"Because work and careers get in the way."

"Yeah, I keep forgetting about that" Sidney said smiling at her "can I maybe get you to bargain for something?"

"Nothing will be happening while your parents and sister are in this house Crosby."

"I know that and not what I meant."

"Then what do you want?"

"Would you seriously consider maybe putting in for time off during the summer?"

"How much time?"

"Anywhere from a month to maybe three months."

"Sid?"

"Ok, maybe three months is a lot to ask for and I would settle for at least a month. The week you spent with me at home was too short. I want more time with you during the off season."

"How about I make you a deal?"

"I'm listening."

"Since I do have a lot of vacation time saved up and on my anniversay date, I get three weeks vacation this year. If you would stay here for a month after the season is over with me, I will put in the time and stay a month with you in Nova Scotia."

"That could definitely be arranged. Which month?"

"It could either be when you leave and I come with you or I can wait and come and be with you on your birthday again."

"I'll have to think about that."

"Well why don't you dream about and go get some sleep. I want an intense stud on the ice tonight, not a sluggish one."

"Ok. Will you please make me dinner?"

Karen kissed him "yes dear." She let go of him, grabbed her jersey and started to walk out but turned around when Sidney was getting in bed "besides, there's this great Swedish Meatball recipe I want to try."

"I love you too baby" Sidney yelled out after her.

Chapter 91

Hours later, Karen landed in Pittsburgh and called Sidney. They got to talk for a matter of 2 minutes before he had to get off so the plane could take off. She decided to go lay down for an hour or so before he got home. Natalie had left and went to Max's to wait for him. Karen had to smile when she told her he had given her his key so she could just go to his place and not depend on Karen during game days.

The plane had landed after 11a and Sidney got in his car and headed home. When he got there, he didn't see Karen so he decided to go upstairs to change. Sidney walked into the bedroom and saw Karen asleep in bed. He smiled to himself, taking off his jacket and tie then his shoes before crawling in bed with her. Sidney laid beside her without touching her and just stared at Karen sleeping. He brought his hand up and ran his finger lightly down her cheek. He smiled when she stirred and opened her eyes, looking directly into his.

"Hey, when did you get in?"

"Just a couple minutes ago. I couldn't find you until I came to get changed."

Karen looked at him "you haven't changed yet."

"Well since I found you, I was hoping you could help me change into something a little more comfortable."

"I think I can help with that."

Karen moved her hands to unbutton his shirt, sliding them inside and over his bare chest. She lightly moved them down to his pants and unbuckled the belt, making her way to unbutton and unzip his pants. Sidney rolled them over onto Karen's back and she took his shirt off his shoulders, throwing it to the side. Her hands found his pants and slid them off his hips and down his thighs. Karen lifted her leg up, using her foot to finish pulling them off. When she got them off, she rolled them over onto Sidney's back and she sat up straddling his hips. Karen grabbed the hem of her shirt and lifted it up over her head. Sidney smiled at her naked chest and leaned up to lay a kiss upon the top of her breasts before capturing her lips in a heated kiss.

"I think you need to be a little more patient stud" she said breaking the kiss.

"Can't help it. I've been away from you for too long and the way you left me at the airport it took all my energy to not go back to the hotel and relieve my feelings."

"Absolutely. Care to help me out?"

She took the hem into her hands and gently pulled his boxers off, throwing them to the floor. Getting off the bed, Karen finished getting undressed and climbed back on top, holding him in her hands as she slid down on him. She stayed still for a minute before she started moving her hips in a small upward motion. Sidney bit his bottom lip as the sensations began to brew inside him. He moved his hands to her thighs and lightly rubbed up to her hips and then back down her legs. Karen picked up the pace as the intensity level picked up as well. "Ah, I see how it is. Bored with me already and you found some young chippie to go play with. Well it was fun while it lasted."

"As much as I love when you do this" Sidney leaned over and kissed her "I wanted to go see Mario and talk to him. Do you mind?"

"No. Want me to go with you?"

"You can if you want, but I was hoping to talk to him alone."

"Well I'll talk to Nathalie. I haven't seen her in a while."

"Go get ready and I will wait for you downstairs."

"Ok." Karen kissed him and then got up and got ready. Sidney headed downstairs and turned on the tv to wait for her. She came down a few minutes later and they were off to Mario's house. Sidney knocked and Nathalie was surprised to see them standing there.

"Out of everyone, you know you don't need to knock Sid" Nathalie said hugging him then Karen.

"Well I was going to walk in but Karen reminded me I really didn't live here anymore."

"He can still walk in as he is still part of this family" she told Karen with a smile.

"Sorry. I was just trying to instill some manners into him."

"I have manners baby" he said allowing them to go inside first before he did "see."

"Quit showing off stud" she said kissing him.

"Ah, young love" Mario said walking into the room making Karen turn away blushing. "So what brings you two here?"

"Well I wanted to talk to you about something and Karen thought it would be a good time to catch up with Nat."

"Then Karen, why don't we head into the kitchen and leave them to talk" Nathalie said as Karen followed her into the kitchen.

"So Sid, what did you need to talk to me about? And do I assume it has something to do with the ring Karen is sporting on her left hand, third finger?"

"Actually it does. Karen told me you saw it but didn't say anything to her about it."

"Are you going to defend it before everyone asks about it?"

"Not so much defend it as to tell you what it really means. I didn't propose to her if that's what you're thinking. I bought it for her to symbolize my love and committment to her and us. I told her she could wear it on any finger and hopefully one day when we are both ready she wears it on the finger she has it on now and it means what its suppose to mean."

"If you guys aren't engaged, then why did you feel the need to explain yourself to me?"

"Because out of anyone, I knew you would understand. You know Karen better than anyone and when it comes to her I value your opinion. Besides, I was hoping that if I explained it to you, you could help me with my parents and help them understand."

"So you are planning to tell them?"

"Yeah, when they come down in a couple days. I already told my dad that I moved in with her."

"This should be a pleasant trip, especially when Troy goes on the road with you next week."

"I'm looking forward to it." Sidney and Mario continued to talk for a while longer.

Meanwhile in the kitchen.....

"What do you think they're talking about in there?"

"Probably this" Karen said raising her left hand and showing Nathalie the beautiful diamond ring on her finger.

"Is that what I think it is?" she said getting excited.

"It is but I hate to burst you're bubble that it doesn't mean what you think it does. Sidney didn't propose, he gave me this to symbolize his love to me...not to mention his committment."

"How do you feel about that?"

"I'm fine with it. Sidney knows my feelings on marriage and with what happened with Rick, I don't know if I want to get married. I could have had it all back then, and when it never happened it soured my feelings towards it."

"So then if one day Sidney proposes, what will you say?"

"It depends on when he asks and what point we are in our relationship."

"Smart girl." Karen and Nathalie both laughed and finished talking. They headed into the living room a few minutes later to join the guys. Before long, the kids were coming home from school and were surprised to see Sidney. Lauren was the most surprised when she saw Karen sitting there too, running over to hug her. They stayed and talked with the kids for a little bit longer.

"Do you and Karen want to stay for dinner Sid?" Mario asked.

"Baby?" Sidney turned and asked her.

"I think we both would love it."

"Well then I am going to go get it started" Nathalie said excusing herself.

"Let me help you Nat" Karen said getting up but was pulled back down by Sidney as he gave her a kiss before letting her go. She left the room laughing and went into the kitchen with Lauren behind her.

Karen, can I ask you a question?"

"Sure Lauren. What's up?"

"Are you and Sidney getting married?"

"No. Why would you ask me that?"

"Because he moved in with you and plus you have a ring on like mom's."

Karen looked at Nathalie and she nodded so Karen could tell her the truth "No sweetie, Sid and I aren't getting married. He bought me this ring to show me how much he loves me."

"Then why are you wearing it on that finger?"

Karen looked down at her hand "because it just felt right being on that finger."

"I give it 4 months" Lauren said with a smile.

"You give what 4 months Lauren?" Sidney asked as he came into the kitchen. She just gave him a big smile and walked out of the room. "Ok, that was weird. What's going on?" he asked as he put his arm around Karen.

"I have no idea" Karen said looking at Sidney, eventhough she knew what Lauren meant. It did hit her that in 4 months it would be their one year anniversary and wondered if a proposal could come from Sidney but she doubt it. Karen knew if he wasn't ready now, he wouldn't be in April. She let the thoughts dwindle from her mind as they finished getting dinner ready so they could sit down to eat.

As they ate, Karen watched how Sidney was with the kids. If the conversation didn't revolve around hockey then no one was talking. In a way, she hated that Sidney was away from this especially when Austin and Stephanie were having tournaments coming up. Karen wondered if she took Sidney away from them too soon. When dinner was over, Karen helped Nathalie clean up and went to find Sidney playing a game of hockey in the driveway with the kids.

"You just can't get away from the game huh?" Karen said coming out to watch them.

"Never. If you were a true hockey player baby, you would have been out here with us 20 minutes ago."

"Did he just challenge me?" she asked the kids.

"I think he did Kiki" Lauren told her laughing.

Karen picked up an extra stick and stood in front of Sidney "bring it Crosby."

"You know, if the kids weren't around we could really make this interesting" he whispered to her.

"Save it for when we get home stud" she whispered back.

Sidney smiled and backed up to the goal. Each would get five shots and whoever scored the most, wins. Sidney told Karen that since he was a gentleman, she could go first. He stopped her first shot when she tried to go over his shoulder, but the next four she caught him off guard and scored all of them. He stood there with a bewildered look on his face. Karen walked up and kissed him as she changed places with him. Sidney stood back and thought about how he was going to shoot on her. Apparently he didn't put enough thought into it as Karen stopped every shot he gave her. The kids came up and congatulated Karen but Sidney stood back, sulking. The kids went inside leaving them outside.

"So what, have you been getting lessons from Flower when I'm not around?"

"Are you seriously mad at me?" Karen asked with sadness in her voice.

"No, but you know how I hate to lose baby....especially to you."

"But I thought when you lost to me the first time, it's what intrigued you about me. Isn't that how we got here?"

"Yeah it was, but I thought you had learned by now" he said letting a smile spread across his face.

"The only thing I learned was that you can win in other ways." Karen kissed him and headed inside. Sidney shook his head and ran after her. They thanked Nat and Mario for dinner and Karen made plans to take Lauren shopping on her next available weekend before heading home.

Chapter 90

After their nap, they got up and got ready to go to the arena. When they got there, Sidney took her and Natalie to the suites and Karen gave him a kiss for good luck before he left to go back down to the locker room. Natalie and Karen got comfortable and waited until the game to start. When the game got going, Karen heard a familiar voice and smiled seeing who it was.

"Are you travelling with the team now Karen?"

"Mario" she said getting up and giving him a hug "not really, only when I get a day off. You know I can't stay away."

"You mean you can't stay away from Sidney" he said smiling, letting her go.

"Can't help it. So what about you? I didn't think you went to all the away games."

"I don't, but just felt like coming out for one. Who'd you bring with you?"

"I'm sorry, I don't know if you've ever met my friend Natalie" she said introducing them.

"I'm sure I'll remember that name. It's nice that you came to join her Natalie."

"Well I had another purpose, I'm kind of dating Max."

Mario looked at Karen "it wasn't my doing" she said with a smile.

"Well Max has a very pursuasive personality." Karen and Natalie just smiled at the comment. "Why don't you guys sit down, have fun and enjoy the game" Mario said before walking off.

The game went on and Mario came back to sit with the girls. At one time, he noticed Karen was wearing a very distinctive diamond ring on the finger only meant for engagement and wedding rings. He didn't want to say anything with everyone around and decided he should ask Sidney about it first. When the game was over, the Pens lost 4-2 and Sidney was held without a point. Karen and Natalie waited in the box until the guys would be ready to go. They headed down to the locker room and Natalie found Max. Karen knew Sidney would be 10 minutes behind everyone else and went to find him. He was in the locker room, dressed and sitting in his stall.

"Hey" she said softly walking up to him.

"Hey baby" he said pulling her down on his lap. "What are you doing here?"

"I came to see if you were almost done. The bus is ready to go back to the hotel."

"Ok."

Sidney got up and grabbed her hand, but she stopped him "you ok?"

"Yeah, I just wish I knew why we aren't winning."

"Baby, the wins will come. You have to believe that."

"I do believe that. They just need to come soon" he said kissing her head then going out to the bus.

When they got back to the hotel, they each got changed and Karen saw Sidney sitting on the bed. She knew he didn't want to talk about the game and wanted to get his mind of of it.

"What time are you guys flying out tomorrow?"

"Probably around 9am."

"Our flight is at 6am, so I'll just meet you at home after you get in" she said getting her things together.

"Why don't you just fly home with me?"

"Because I'm not part of the team. We'll both be home tomorrow, just one before the other."

"I don't understand why you just can't come back with me?" he said getting angry.

"Why is this an issue?"

"Because you're my fucking girlfriend that's why" he said yelling at her.

Karen took a deep breath "so basically since I am dating you, I should just feel privileged and take all the perks that come along with dating Sidney Crosby? Sorry but this relationship doesn't work that way. I am not about to lose my individuality by going to the arena on game days, sit away from my friends to snob around with all the other girlfriends or wives that don't seem to care about being at the damn game anyway. I am not going to give up my job, stay at home and see what credit card you leave for me on the night stand to go shopping to fill my days while you're at the arena or off doing sponsor related things."

"I never said that's what I wanted."

"You never said you didn't want it either" Karen said then walked out the door. She had to get away from him for a few minutes before things really got said they didn't want to say. Karen walked down to the lobby and outside to get a breath of fresh air or a few minutes. When she came back in, she went to the bar and sat down in the back. Karen didn't realize that a couple of the guys were down there and was soon joined by Jordan.

"Karen? What are you doing down here and by yourself?" he asked looking around and not seeing Sidney.

"Sid and I just had a fight and I shouldn't have pushed it knowing the mood he was in from losing tonight but when he said what he said I just told him what I felt."

"What was the fight about?"

"I asked what time you guys were flying out, he told me then I told him that Nat and I were heading out earlier and that I would see him when he got in. He asked why I couldn't just fly back with the team, told him that I wasn't part of the team and why it was an issue."

"He probably just wanted you with him but I see where you're coming from too. You don't want to seem like you're getting all the benefits of dating him."

"Exactly. I love him and love being with him but I need to keep my individuality. I didn't start dating him because of who he is and I never wanted to just be his girlfriend."

"Look, he's got more pressure on him than the rest of us because he's the captain and I'm sure he didn't mean what he said."

"I know he didn't." Karen let out a huge sigh "I just don't want him to hate me with what I said to him."

"He can't hate you Kiki, he loves you too much. Why don't you go up and talk to him? It'll make you both feel better" Jordan said before rejoining the others at the bar. Karen sat there for another minute then headed upstairs. She got to his room and realized she didn't grab the key card. Karen was going to knock but decided to sit down outside the room.

Sidney was inside of the room going crazy. He didn't mean to yell at her or start up the same argument about her being around him 24/7. He wanted her around him more than anything but he knew she wasn't the kind of girl who would give up her life for a guy. She was special and he didn't want to lose that. He picked up his cell phone and called her, thankful she answered.

"Hello."

"Baby, where are you?" he said with obvious desperation in his voice.

Karen looked past Sidney and saw almost the whole team standing there watching them. She saw them head back into their rooms laughing at them. "Come on, we need to get you to bed. You have an early flight tomorrow."

They got a cab and made their way to the airport. The girls checked in as the guys waited on them. When they came back, Sidney took Karen aside to say his goodbye as Max did the same with Natalie.

Sidney wrapped his arms around Karen and kissed her as he pulled her close. "Ok, I'm going to be selfish and tell you I don't want you to go."

"Tell me it's suppose to get better being apart from her Max."

Max put his hand on Sidney's shoulder "it does, but if you didn't miss her so much it means you don't really love her."

Sidney shot his friend a smile and they got a cab and went back to the hotel.

Chapter 89

They met back up with the guys at the bar to wait out a few minutes before midnight. Karen noticed Ryan get more reserved while she was around. She started piecing it together that she was the reason he would stop being around when she was there.

"You ok baby? You seemed to go away there for a minute" Sidney asked her.

"Yeah I'm fine, just got lost in a thought."

Sidney pulled her aside from everyone "you seem to do that a lot. What's going on?"

"She was something huh? I tried so hard to not laugh when I read what you wrote" he said laughing. "She would not let up on me. I am so glad you showed up. Which brings me to the queston of the night...what are you doing here?"

"Nat and I were at work and we found out that they gave us tomorrow off. We really didn't need to be there since the store was opened until 5p and we would have gotten pulled to do other things anyway. So we both decided to surprise you and Max and come spend New Years together."

"Well I am surprised and love that you came here. Why don't we go celebrate with the guys since it's almost midnight and then we can have our own little celebration together?"

"I like the sound of that." They walked back into the bar and caught up with the rest of the guys.

Chapter 87

Karen heard the voices in the living room and went to see who was there. She smiled seeing Max and Natalie sitting on the couch by Sidney.

"Hey Kiki. Nice shirt there. I may need one of those to wear around the locker room" Max said laughing.

"No, you need one that says 'Got Ego?' Max" she said smiling at him.

"That was harsh." Max put his hand on his chest, pretending to be hurt.

"I just call them like I see them Superstar" she said sitting on Sidney's lap.

"Besides Max, you wear this shirt around the locker room and I am denying it all."

"Come on Sid, you know you love me."

Karen and Natalie just look at each other "would you guys like to be alone?" Karen said.

"Yeah, we'll leave the room if you two need a moment" Natalie added.

"Please don't" Sidney said with pleading eyes to his girlfriend which only made Karen laugh.

"Yeah, let's keep it in the locker room where it belongs stud" Max said batting his eyelashes at him.

"Hey now, he's my stud not yours hence the shirt."

"I'm not winning this argument am I?" Max asked Natalie.

"Don't think so. Karen doesn't give up what she wants so easily" she said looking at her best friend.

"So do you guys have dinner plans?" Karen asked them.

"Kind of, we came back to get my stuff then we were going out for dinner. Want to join us?"

"It's up to Karen" Sidney said looking at her.

"Do you feel like going out?" she asked him. Sidney just gave her his look and it gave her the answer "I think we'll stay in tonight" she told them with a smile.

"Since I don't want any more details, I am going to get my stuff" Natalie said getting up.

"I'll come with you Nat" Karen got up and went with her leaving Sidney and Max to talk.

Max waited until the girls were out of the room "looks like you and Karen have officially made up."

"Yeah, you could say that. But I don't know, I think there's still something there that she's worried about."

"Apparently you and Sid made up. Is it all good now?" Natalie asked her friend as she got her things together.

"Yeah, I mean we're fine and we will be fine as the days go by."

"But..."

"But I still feel something is off with us like there's something else going to happen."

"What else could she be worried about? She still thinks you'll cheat on her and leave her?"

"Maybe, but I think there's more to it. I'm just not sure what I need to do."

"I think you do Sid."

"What, like something bad?"

"Not really bad, it's just I want to know he's truly in this relationship with me."

"Why don't you just talk to him and have him tell you that?"

"Because he needs to do something that tells me it. Anyone can say the words, I want to see the action."

"What if I don't know what I need to say or do?"

"Sid, you love her right?"

"More than anything Max."

"Then think about it and it will come to you." Max said then excused himself.

"Well if he doesn't figure it out, you might as well tell him or you're going to lose the best thing in your life right now" Natalie told her friend before walking out of the room.

Karen and Sidney sat in the different rooms and thought about what their friends said to them.

"I hope he knows what to do" "I think I know what to do" They both said at the same time to themselves. Karen got up and met up with everyone in the living room. Sidney wrapped his arms around her as they said goodbye to Max and Natalie. He turned her around in his arms and planted a soft and gentle kiss upon her lips.

"What was that for?" Karen asked smiling.

"No particular reason, just because I love you."

"I love you too. I'm going to go finish up dinner."

"Ok. Need any help?"

"Not this time stud. I'll call you when it's ready." Karen went to walk away only to have Sidney pull her back and kiss her again before letting her go completely. She went into the kitchen to finish dinner. About 20 minutes later, dinner was done and Karen got everything out to cool. She walked towards the living room to get Sidney when she heard him talking to someone. She decided to stand outside the doorway and listen, even if it was just his side of the conversation.

"I'm good, listen dad there is a reason I called...yeah everything is alright I just need you to know something....I moved in with Karen...no I'm not kidding dad. I love her and I am committed to her...I am not going to ruin anything ok. This is good for me...well what was all that 'willing to give her a chance' speech you gave me....believe it or not dad, I love her and living with her shows that. When you guys come down for a couple games, if you want to stay at Mario's or a hotel, that's fine but I will be here at home with Karen. I'll talk to you later dad, bye."

Sidney shut his phone and saw Karen standing in the doorway with tears in her eyes "did you just...I mean, did I hear you say....to your dad that...." she tried to stammer out the words but couldn't. Sidney walked over to her and wiped the fallen tears away.

"Yes I did. I called my dad and told him we were living together."

"You said that you would be here at home while they were visiting" she said crying "home with me."

"Baby, ssh, stop crying. You wanted me to show you that I was committed to you, there's no better way than standing up to my dad to let him and you know that." Sidney stood there and just watched her expression. He smiled at her when she did before she leaned up and kissed him. "Did you need me for something?" Sidney asked after breaking the kiss.

"Just that dinner was done and on the table."

He smiled at her then kissed her forehead "great because I am starved." He laced his fingers with hers and led her into the kitchen to eat. They ate dinner and talked about the upcoming games. Karen still couldn't believe what she had heard, so she didn't want to spoil it by asking him about it. After they ate, Sidney helped her clean up and they went back to the living room and settled in on the couch. Sidney found Mystery Alaska on tv and Karen practically begged to watch it. Sidney thought it was an ok hockey movie, but Karen gave him the saddest puppy dog look to watch it because of Russell Crowe. He just laughed and gave in.

When the movie was over, Karen felt Sidney was staring at her. She turned off the tv and looked over at him only to be met with his eyes on her. She got a feeling in the pit of her stomach when his eyes pierced into her. The feeling of want and need captured both of them. Sidney got up and held out his hand for Karen to accept. She did and he pulled her up to him. Their lips met briefly before Sidney pulled away and started upstairs with Karen walking behind him with their hands attached. They reached the bedroom and Sidney pulled her close to him.

"I love you more than anything. I would do anything for you baby" Sidney said lifting his hand and caressing her cheek.

"Sid..."

"Wait" he said putting his finger to her lips "this is it, you and me. Not us and everyone else in the world....just you and me. My parents, my friends, your friends....no one lives this relationship but us. I called my dad to tell him not because you wanted me to tell them, but because I needed to tell him. I needed him to know you aren't going away and if you did, I would be right by your side. He needed to know my love for you runs deep and this ends when we say it does, not when he does." Sidney looked into her tear filled eyes "you can say what you were going to before I stopped you."

"I don't think there's anything I can say that you don't already know. I just need for you to really be sure that this is what you want, that I am what you want."

"You are exactly what I need AND want in my life. I don't want my arms to wrap around anyone else. I don't want my lips touching another's lips unless they're yours. I don't want to fight, talk, laugh, or make love to anyone unless its you. I love you Karen."

"I love you too Sidney."

Sidney picked her up and laid her on the bed, then laid down beside her. Karen turned on her side to face him as Sidney moved her leg over his. Their lips met with a kiss that excited them both but Sidney didn't want this to be over quickly. They were still dressed and making out at the moment felt better than rushing into the sex. The passion in their kisses was enough to set the stage for what was to come.
