He sat up on his hands to get better leverage as his pounding got harder. Karen's grip got tighter on the posts and she put her head back into the pillow to keep it from bouncing into the headboard. "Good, you can help me pack up the house then."

"I do have an idea about the house."

"How about offering it to Coach Dan? That way he'll be close to Mario and he doesn't have to take time to look for one for him and his family. This is a perfect house for him."

"Well I did like the idea of renting it out to another player, why not Coach Dan. Plus it will give me up until a couple weeks before training camp to really get my stuff out of here."

"You're not taking everything are you?"

"No, I'll leave a good bit of furniture for them. All I want to take is everything in here, the dining room table and chairs since they were mom's handed down, and the oversized lounger in the living room. I'll get everything else new."

"Sounds like a plan to me. I'll call him later and see what he says before he heads home for the summer."

"Good but now that we've worked up an appetite, I'm hungry stud."

"Not sure, I'll decide when he comes back."

A few minutes later, the waiter came back with their beer "have you decided?"

"Can we get a full bucket of bbq wings please" Sidney ordered.

"Alright, anything else?"

Karen was about to respond again when Sidney spoke up "she'll have a salad with ranch dressing on the side."

"Sounds good. I will get that right out for you."

"Thanks" Sidney told him before looking at Karen and her smile beaming back at him. "What?"

"Am I that predictable when it comes to this place?"

"Maybe, but I just know what you love baby."

"I hope that goes for you too."

A few minutes later the waiter came back over and brought Karen her salad. When he left, a little boy walked up to the table and Karen smiled at how shy he was.

"Sure thing." Tommy joined Sidney in the booth as his mom snapped a picture.

"Would you like to be in one?" Karen asked "I'll take it for you guys."

"No that's ok, we've taken up enough of your time."

"Come on mom" Tommy said almnost persistant "sit beside me." She handed Karen the camera and sat down as she took the picture with Sidney.

"Thank you both so much. Sorry to have bothered you."

"It was no bother. Have a good night Tommy" Sidney said getting a high five from him.

"Thanks Sid and good job winning the Cup."

"Thanks buddy." They walked away and Karen just watched Sidney's facial expression.

"You really have a soft spot for kids huh?"

"They don't take all this for granted. To them we're heros, to adults we're money for them to make off our autographs. I know that napkin will be cherished for at least 20 years."

"You know you probably just opened the flood gates."

"I know, but hopefully they'll be respectful and let us eat first."

"Ooo, a betting opportunity." Just then a couple of girls came up and asked Sidney for his autograph. He humored them and signed the napkins before thanking him and walking away.

"We're not in the middle of eating our food so that didn't count baby" he said to Karen who just started laughing. Soon their food came and they ate with no interruptions from the other patrons of the restaurant.

"So tell me, when are you leaving Friday?"

"Maybe we should talk about this when we get home."

"Why?"

"Baby, I have an early flight and I leave at 8a."

"So I go to work and then you leave? You couldn't get a later flight for me to take you to the airport? You don't want me to take you to at least say goodbye before I don't see you for a month and a half?"

"Karen, that's not it. There aren't many flights heading that way and it was either early or really late. I didn't want to get home around midnight. You know I would love for you to take me if you could."

"Maybe I could. I can see about just going in after I take you and stay later to get my time in."

"You know I would love that baby, but if your manager gives you crap then don't worry about it."

"I'll see tomorrow."

"I know and I'm sorry for overreacting about it too." They finished eating and was ready to head out when the work staff asked Sidney for some autographs and a quick picture with them. After he was done, Sidney signed the wall before they left to head home. The car ride was somewhat silent and Sidney hoped Karen wasn't mad about him leaving. they got to the house and headed inside. "Where to today?"

"That is so great Karen. I know I count on you for a lot of things and I am very appreciative of all your help."

"Well you know I am always there to help when it comes to my job, besides I wanted to try and go to the Stanley Cup parade tomorrow with Sidney and now you made that possible so thank you."

"Well we both win then. We were going to start about 9p, so if you could be here about 8:45p we can get set up and organized before diving in."

"Sounds good. See you tonight."

"Well that makes it a little better. Since we're heading to Mario's around 5p, will you come and have dinner and then leave a little after that?"

"I get that and I think Karen's great, I just never thought it would happen this fast" Jordan said before leaving the group.

Sidney sat there and wondered what he meant. "Don't worry about it man" Billy said "finding the right woman is the best thing in the world."

"It has been. I was so stupid before this season started by breaking up with her when all I wanted was to be with her. I knew she made my life better and balanced everything out."

"I don't know how you do it Sid."

"What?"

"Handle everything like you've been in the league for 15 years not 4. Damn man, when I was your age I could barely keep my head on straight."

"I don't know, I guess it's just how I was raised."

"Well whatever it is, keep it going for as long as you can" he said before getting up leaving Max and Sidney alone.

"Maybe Jordan has a point, maybe Karen and I did rush into this relationship faster then we should have."

"Are you having seconds thoughts?"

Karen perked her ears up at his response "God no, but I always wonder if things would be different if we would have slowed down since last year."

"I don't think so Sid, we all see what she's done to you and we're glad she changed you...for the better" Max said seeing Karen walk towards them.

"I think we changed each other Max" Karen said walking over to them.

Sidney got up and hugged her "when did you get here?" he said hoping she didn't hear all he said.

"About 10 minutes ago."

"It's a good thing you're here Karen, we need some class to spice up this party."

"So where's Nat? I didn't see her when I walked through."

"She had to leave at midnight, said she had to open tomorrow at work."

"Guess we're all not so lucky to have tomorrow off."

"Yeah and she's kind of pissed about that so if you could, tell her you had a horrible time at the parade."

"Will do Max" she said laughing before he excused himself to leave them alone.

On Monday morning, everyone from the Penguins organization got to the arena early to do a few things before the parade. When they got to the start of the route and were assigned cars, Sidney pulled Karen aside.

"Why aren't you going with me in the truck?"

"Because this belongs to you and your dad."

"Sid, listen to me. I am so proud of you for accomplishing your dream, but your dad has been waiting for this his whole life to share it with you. I don't want to take this away from him. I'll go with your mom, Taylor, and the other families and meet you at the stage area."

"You ok Sid?" Troy asked his son.

"Yeah I'm good."

"Karen not coming with us?"

"No, she didn't want to take away this moment for us" he said seeing Troy's expression change "I hope this now proves how amazing she is dad" he said patting him on the back then heading to the truck he would be riding in. Troy looked over at Karen and smiled before joining his son.

As the parade started, Karen just took in all the people that came out for this as she went past them. She thought back to '92 when they had the celebration at Three Rivers Stadium. It was also the last thing before the players would disburse for the summer and Sidney would be heading to Nova Scotia by himself.

"You ok?" Trina asked.

"Yeah, just after today time will be short before Sid heads back home and I won't get to be with him until August."

"Before we start this I want to say that my personal life is off limits. The only thing I will say is that I do plan to marry my girlfriend during the summer and I am confirming it to put all the rumors to rest." Sidney got the approval of the group and they went on with their questions. After a half hour, they left Sidney alone and he got all his things put away and said goodbye to some of the guys, heading out to go home.

A couple hours later, everyone had returned and sat around talking for a little bit. When Sidney got back he told Karen and his mom that the team was going to meet up at Mario's bar on the SouthSide for yet another party. They all got ready to go and headed out.

"I told Dan he could take it for a little while. I'm sure he'll make a widespread call when he decides to head around town with it to see who wants to join him" Mario told everyone.

Karen kept an eye on the clock as she saw the puck head towards the net. She saw Marc-Andre push off into the shot and the puck hit into his midsection. "Hey, aren't you coming?" Natalie said walking back over to her.

Within a minute, Nathalie saw them standing there and walked over to the usher telling him to let them through.

"Thanks, I didn't think I would be able to get your attention."

"I was looking to see if you were on the ice already and then I saw you guys still on the other side of the glass."

"Well it wasn't like I could actually tell him I was with Sid."

"Or that he would have believed you. Come on, go stand by the ice where the girls are. He should be over soon."

Before Karen left for work Friday morning, she got a few things together so she wouldn't have to worry about it when she got home. "We'll just have to invite them to all the parties when we get back."

Karen sat up on her knees and turned her head kissing him "well, it does appear that I am available to do that." Sidney had her fall back onto her hands so he could enter her from behind. He got a rhythm going before bringing her back up to his chest. Karen moved one of his hands from her hip to her mound and if on instinct Sidney began to rub over her clit. Sidney held onto her hips tighter, making her come down on him harder until he unleashed his own. They sat there for a few minutes before laying down and Sidney curled up behind her. Karen turned her head to offer her lips to him in a heated kiss. She broke the kiss and let Sidney get some sleep.

An hour later, the alram went off and Sidney turned it off and rolled back over to Karen who was lying there looking at him. "Mmm, hey baby."

"Hey. Get enough sleep for tonight?"

"Yeah I did. How about you?"

"I really wasn't that tired, just watched you sleep instead."

"I guess I didn't do my job then."

"What do you mean?"

"I'm suppose to tire you out baby."

"You usually do stud, but I just wasn't tired since I fell asleep on the plane ride here."

"Well I need to get my shower, care to join me again?"

"I would love to, but I'm going to say no this time. Go get ready stud."

"I guess it's going to be a cold shower" he said mumbling his way to the bathroom to make Karen laugh. She got up and got dressed, waiting for him to come out. When he was done, Sidney came out and got dressed. "Ready to go get some dinner with your handsome husband?"

"I would love to, is he here?" she said as they walked out the door.

"You know, it's a good thing that I love you so much" he said closing the door behind them and walking towards the elevator. Karen just smiled and kissed him getting a smile from his lips. They went downstairs and met up with the rest of the guys for dinner.

A half hour later, Sidney and Karen were making their way back up to the room so Sidney could finish getting ready to head to the arena. He was getting his tie on and Karen went to sit infront of him to tie it for him.

"This is the last time you'll be doing this baby."

"Not really. I'm sure there will be other events that I will have the pleasure of doing this. I kind of enjoy it" she said pulling the knot closer to his neck and straightening the tie.

"I kind of enjoy how close you are to me. If I didn't need to go play hockey right now, we'd be taking the tie back off."

"Well you still had it on in the suite on Tuesday and I think that was a little bit of a turn on that I didn't take it off you."

"Just like when I kept the jersey on you...so sexy if I do say so myself."

"Is this preparing you for the game at all?" she said smiling.

"Any feeling of nerves that I had are gone if that's what you mean."

"How are you nervous Sid? You've played this game for practically all your life."

"I know and it's not so much the game I'm nervous about."

"It's what this game represents huh?"

Sidney walked over to the bed and sat down "I could lose it all tonight Karen."

Karen got off the dresser and went to kneel infront of him "and you could win everything you've dreamed about since you were 3. No one knows how this game will end until the final buzzer sounds."

"And you'll still be cheering for me no matter how it does?"

"Haven't you learned that by now? Even when we were apart, I still cheered for you and that will never change."

"Tell me" he said looking into her eyes and Karen knew exactly what he needed to hear.

"This is your game Sid. Whether you score all the goals or none of them...this is your dream. Go get it."

Sidney brought his hand up and caressed her cheek "I love you."

"I love you too" she said leaning up to kiss him "Come on stud, go make me proud."

Karen stood up and brought Sidney with her "forever and always baby." They shared another kiss and headed to the arena.

As the game started, everyone was up in a suite watching the game unfold. The first period came and went with no goals from either team. As the second period started and with more than a minute into the period Max shot the puck and scored. Karen and Natalie erupted with happiness. But for Karen, that happiness dulled when four minutes later Sidney got pressed into the boards and got hurt. Karen watched with pain in her heart as he limped off the ice. As Mario and Troy turned to see if she was ok, Karen was out of the suite and heading down to the locker room. She ran passed everyone, flashing her pass and headed to the trainer's room when she didn't see him in the locker room. Sidney was sitting on the table and saw her come in.

"How did I know you'd be down here?"

"Because we think too much alike. How bad is it?"

"I don't know if I'll be able to finish the game. They're numbing it now so we'll see for the third, but I'm definitely done for the rest of the second." And if on cue, half the crowd erupted as they heard that Max had scored again to give the Pens the lead at 2-0. "Baby, I'm ok. Go back up and watch the rest of the game."

"I'm not going back up until the second period is over and I know for sure you're ok."

"Wow, she's a determined one" the trainer said.

"Yeah she is" Sidney said taking her hand in his, letting her stay with him for a while longer. When the trainer was done, Karen helped Sidney into the locker room and back to his stall.

"So what happened?"

"I was going for the puck to take it down ice and Franzen came with a check. I tried to jump out of the hit and his body caught my leg against the top on the boards. They said it could be a deep bruise."

"Let's hope it's not more serious then that and you can finish the game."

"That's all I want right now baby" he said kissing her cheek. Just then, someone came in and told them that the second period was about over and Karen knew she needed to leave. "I'll be alright baby, go watch the rest of the game."

"Ok, but if you do try and there's too much pain, don't push it."

"Famous last words from someone who did the opposite in the Olympics."

"I'm stubborn and didn't have another twenty years of hockey to play. Just becareful, that's all I'm asking."

"I will baby. See you when it's over." Karen just nodded and kissed him before she left the locker room. She got through the crowd and back to the suite a few minutes later.

"Is it bad?" Troy asked.

"Right now they seem to think it's just a deep bruise in the lower thigh muscle. They won't know until Sidney gets it checked but they don't think its his knee or anything too drastic."

"So Sidney's going to try and play on it?" Mario asked.

"You know Sid but yeah, he'll try a shift and see after that."

"He'll be ok Troy" Trina said "if Sid is really hurt, he would've told Karen the truth to not make her worry."

"Or do something to jeopardize his hockey career" Karen added and they all nodded in agreement. Karen excused herself and got something to drink, going back over to Natalie and waited for the third period to begin.

As the third period was about to start, Karen saw Sidney skate around testing his leg. She saw him move it around and she kind of knew he wouldn't be playing much. He didn't start the third and waited a couple shifts before going out. Karen watched him more than the play and could see he was having trouble turning. When he skated to the bench after the shift, she knew he was done.

"You ok?" Natalie asked her.

"He's done for the game Nat, his leg must be hurting."

"He'll be ok."

"I know he'll be fine but this is going to kill him sitting on the bench with 3/4 of the game remaining." Natalie gave her friend a reassuring hug as they continued watching the game.

The Pens were able to hold off the Red Wings until there was about 6 minutes left when they scored to cut their lead in half. Everyone in the suite looked at each other and prayed that another one wouldn't follow. As the time ticked down, Karen and Natalie felt a little more nervous as the Wngs were putting a surge of shots towards Marc-Andre. Karen would watch the numbers fall off and when there was close to a second left, she saw the puck go to Lidstrom. She held onto Natalie as her breath caught in her throat as he took a hard wrist shot towards the net....
